There were maybe 5 drops in the game, including 2 in UCLA's first possession. Gets Prince to 14-of-26 for maybe 160 yards and two picks. Not to say that 5 drops in what was essentially a 2-point game don't make a difference. We also had 2 first-half fumbles. The first ended a drive at midfield and the other gift wrapped a touchdown.
Also, if you're worried about a 5.2 ypc when we are facing a quarterback that can throw the ball more than 15 yards, just think if you were a UCLA fan that witnessed 5.8 ypc with a team that has CC as the quarterback.
More than a third of UCLA's total yards came on three plays, resulting in 9 (normally 10 points). More than half of their passing yards came on two plays for 6 (7) points.
I have no illusions that this defense won't give up big plays, but if they can contain most offenses I think we'll be in the majority of their games in the fourth quarter this year.
