« on: September 05, 2010, 02:36:10 PM »
for those that didn't see he just threw a beautiful go route TD pass.

First start . . . 11 for 20 for 130 yards and 5 for 30 rushing so far.

I remember that guy. The knock against him was that his teammates were too dominant.

So we shouldn't have recruited him because his teammates helped him to play well??

FYI . . . he threw a pick late in the half, which hurt a chance to score before halftime, however it was deep in Tulsa's territory

Not saying the kid would be all world, but he clearly is athletic, mobile and has a strong arm and doesn't need to take a wind up like Nolan Ryan to get the ball 30 yards down the field.

Now 21 for 36 267 yards and 3 TD's and he's rushed for another one.   First start at D1 level.

Just to rid ourselves of the usual powerespect excuses.

Yes it's C-USA, and in case you haven't notice more and more of college football looks like C-USA offenses.   Is there any doubt a capable, true dual threat QB running K-State's offense yesterday means we are popping our collars about halfway through the 4th qtr yesterday??

Playing in front of  just1,000 fewer people than were at our game yesterday, and on national TV just like our game.   Also no signs of tossing his TACO's 20 times or needing an IV.

Oh . . . did I say first start with a first year coaching staff.

Well thought out prayer play . . . he put a little air under it, but not that much under the ball,  put it in a spot and let his 6-8 receiver go get it.  It's either going to be a TD or PI.

Ft. Scott's coach doesn't let any K-State coaches talk to players and try's to keep players from attending K-State. Something happened during the Prince era or something.

The players thought Prince was wierd and a little creepy.

I see, so OB hasn't calmed the waters with the Ft. Scott coach.

Correct. That's how we stumbled upon this Davis during the recruiting season last year. No one could figure out why we didn't go after him until someone suggested that he was just a product of his teammates being too dominant...which is obviously insane.

How sad for us then . . . kid had over 400 yards of total offense and completed 58% of his passes in his first game.

I got a chance to watch him play twice last season, once in the Jayhawk conference championship game against Butler, and once in the national championship game vs. Blinn.

I'm glad to see the kid is having some success at the DI-A level, but I was unimpressed with him both outings and thought our coaches made the rigth decision in not offering him. He had the size of a prototypical college QB and moved pretty well but lacked vision, was inaccurate, and did little to make me think he would succeed at this level.

Of course hindsight is 20/20 and looking at what we got and how he did in his first game, it's easy to say we should've offered, but, at the time, there was no reason to think he would be successful at as a BCS starting QB.
