Nike alternative pro combat uniforms
« on: August 24, 2010, 02:54:47 PM »
Nike announced the 10 teams that will be wearing them this year.........

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/08/21/nike-announces-ten-teams-to-adorn-pro-combat-unis-in-2010/

Quote
Nike has announced ten schools who will wear an alternate Pro Combat uniform for at least one game in 2010. West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Boise State, TCU, Oregon State and, that's right, Alabama will adorn the uniforms some time this season.

The unveiling of the new uniforms will be made on Sept. 1.

Virginia Tech, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, and TCU wore Nike Pro Combat uniforms in 2009. The uniforms are engineered to provide superior protection, durability and are more light-weight.

Never one to deviate too far from tradition, Alabama's pro combat uniforms will be conservative by comparison. "Alabama officials were and are deeply committed to maintaining the look of the uniform,"a source told TideSports.com.

Well when you already have OB's magic uni's that give our players the gift of perfect fundamentals, well you're pretty well set, so we quickly pulled our name out of contention; even after Nike practically begged, begged us to just like hold on to one of the super-sweet jersey's they made for us, and maybe just take a picture with it or something. Just sad how bad they want us.

Lol at you actually thinking we were "in the running" for the procombat unis.  Notice how Alabama gets to keep their traditional look and still get the procombat material?  It's cause they're good.  We make a BCS bowl next year and maybe we can pull a TCU and get some total makeover treatment.

Alabama, a school with real tradition embraces this, while we continue to cling to "tradition" of the '91 Cowboys.

GPC is on the right track as usual. Who needs some fancy pants uniforms?

Meh. Stupid gimmick. I'd rather win and go to a bowl game. We tried the hot uniform thing with Prince and we ended up with purple clown pants. No thanks.

If we can't get a 4-star dual-threat QB to come play for the man who tutored Michael Bishop and Ell Roberson, I really don't think Powercat gloves and gray-on-gray helmets are gonna do the freakin' trick.

The uniforms are the effect, sir, not the cause.

So I didn't do a good job of reading his post.  After he started talking about Snyd's magic unis I kinda just skiimed the rest.  I thought he was refering to the Prince jerseys when he mentioned the super sweet jerseys nike created for us.  :tappingchestandsayingmybadguysmybad:

Ohio St.'s look very UGA, imo.

Also how does Oregon St. get this over Oregon?

Didn't half of these schools rock pro-combats last year?

JFC, give us something new already.

Well its not all that bad. Oregon States are about the worst things I've ever seen. Ohio St and Alabama's are dumb as crap too. So maybe there is something to Bill's hesitation to get some done.

But if they turn out like TCUs, OMG  or even Virginia Techs  :katpak:  :ksu: :excited:

Oregon's not on the list? Is this just because it's assumed that they where them anyway?

Nike gives Oregon whatever they want.  They don't need special concessions like these other schools.

Alabama gets gloves that show an "A" when they hold up four fingers and houndstooth patten added to parts of the uni. That's a pretty conservative adjustment.

Nike should have pitched to Old Ballz that that we leave our unis the same and just add a pattern featuring the silhouette of a Nike Cortez to parts our uni.

While the stylistic adjustments to Alabama's uniforms are minimal the actual construction has been completely revamped.  It is pretty coo technology if you as me.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

This website is awesome.  I would be incredible to see EMAW represented. http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/usnikefootball/en_US/rivalries2010#landing  They show each uniform up close and personal.

I am viewing it on a 24 inch mac screen at school.  Holy crap the nike site looks nice.  I'll see if it is as cool when i get home.
