"There are so many people that have offered us assistance over the last week and we are very grateful to each of them," Iowa State volleyball coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said in a statement. "The generosity of the women's basketball staff, Dickson Jensen, who owns West Towne Courts, and Judge Johnston and the people at Ames High School is something we will never forget."

The seating capacity at Ames High School is approximately 2,000 fans. The Iowa State Athletics Department will reserve seats for Cyclone volleyball fans, who have purchased a season ticket.

This thread went all over the place, as it was expected and supposed to, but today AD Jamie Pollard, President Geoffrey, the Director of Finance, and the Buildings Manager at Iowa State had a press conference updating on the flood situation. Some of you may find this interesting how a school goes about recovering from a disaster of this magnitude.

Many people questioned why Iowa State was unable to prevent this flood; a flood in 2008 matched the flood of 93 in Ames and improvements to Hilton kept water out of the building. This flood last week was roughly 2-3 feet higher (seems like not much, but actually a huge difference) than 1993, and simply went over all preventative measures to keep Hilton dry. It was the largest flood in recorded history, and geological investigations will tell just how long it has been since the last flood of this magnitude. Some comments in the press conference led to the possibility of completely renovating Hilton now since large portions of the building will be torn up anyway. Quite a few preventative flood measures will also be implemented and constructed over the next few years.

Although I wish this hadn't happened, being a Community & Regional Planning major at Iowa State, I find this all quite interesting.
