Buying Cables for Electronic Devices (attn: AV N3RD's)
« on: August 11, 2010, 09:38:39 AM »
IMO buying from Best Buy is pretty much the worst thing you can do ever. I usually buy my cables online at someplace like mycablemart.com or cabletrain.com or whatever has the best price. Considering the prices at Best Buy are anywhere from 5 times to 10 times more I haven't ever thought twice about it until now.

However, I am no expert on cables so I was hoping someone could enlighten me a little. Buying an HDMI cable here pretty soon, is there anything I should be concerned about? I've boughten optical audio cables several times over from places like these and have never had a problem, however I think HDMI might be a little different (i.e. more magical and mysterious) than the optical's. Any thoughts?

HDMI cables carry a digital signal.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Don't listen to this Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  Do not buy expensive HDMI cables, buy cheap ones from the site 'lams linked above.

ez there buddy.  i wasn't endorsing expensive ones, i was just saying that going the cheap route (dollar a cable off amazon) hasn't yielded great results for me.  i, myself, would actually like to know what ones i should try.  have a nice day, dingledick.

Hello Fellow Cat Fans!  Great thread, I though I could contribute!

For my past HDMI buying needs, I had a great positive experience with www.MyCableMart.com.  The delivery was prompt and the product I ordered, HMDI CABLES, worked in a great fashion.  The prices at www.MyCableMart.com were also very competitive.

It means with a digital signal, you either get the signal or you don't. There is no signal degradation. It's all 1's and 0's. It will sound the same no matter what is transferring the signal.
