Cruise Control
« on: August 10, 2010, 12:52:17 PM »
To all dumbasses who don't use this feature, please merge your vehicle over to the Dumbass Only Lane.  Wait, there isn't one?  Then GTFO off the road.  I just passed you a couple of miles back, not sure why you're flying past me now...and then I'm passing you again a few miles later.  Pretty sure every vehicle made in the last 30 years or so has this feature, maybe your stupid ass should learn how to use it.

 :driving:

See this guy?  Know why he looks happy?  Because he's using the cruise control and knows he's not pissing other drivers off, that's why.

fact:  every vehicle made in the last 30 years does not have cruise control

fact:  several people die each year from being on their phone while driving.

so, get off the phone and quit your bitchin.

1. False, my 2006 doesn't have cruise control. When I asked about it, I was told that cruise control is not a standard option and never has been.

2. Driving Dude is shifting, there by not using cruise control.

Fair point.  What I should have said is:  Any vehicle worth owning made in the last 30 years will have cruise control.  They also make vehicles that don't have power windows and have tape decks installed instead of CD players but nobody really wants those.  Sorry to hear that you bought a piece of crap vehicle or weren't able to go to the next higher equipment package that offers cruise control.  Apparently you might  be one of those dumbasses I encounter on the way into work every day.

I'm with you on the worth owning part. I didn't know it didn't have cruise control when I bought it because I assumed that anything newer than an '85 would have cruise control on it standard. Was very pissed about this. Who knew you'd have to check for cruise control....

I live in a metro area with a population of about 4 mil... never have the opportunity to use my cruise control unless I am driving out of town (vacation).  Maybe move in to town or something and you won't have to deal with it very often.

Would be in favor of a sales tax increase for a dumbasses only lane, however.   :driving: <-- 'cept with no dumbasses

This thread is like meeting my long lost twin.  Morons who don't use CC hate America and hate EMAW.  They also look like huge ass-faces wherever they drive.

Wherever there is too much stop and go traffic to engage CC for stretches sounds so bad I'd either move or hire a driver.

Had a guy who had a big problem with cruise (or something) following me around one time.  Was driving from Hays to Colorado and I passed this car and put probably 1/4 mile on him.  Then he speeds up like crazy and gets right up beside me just as I'm needing to pass a slow vehicle in my lane.  I follow slowly for a mile or so, then the bad person slows back down and falls 1/4 mile back.  Get to the next car to pass and he does the same thing.  Probably did this no less than 5 times.  Finally pulled into a rest are out by Colby or somewhere and pulled right back out.  Never slowed down to catch me from ahead.

If there ever was a time for the pitt maneuver at 75 mph that would have been it.
