Coffee Makers
« on: August 04, 2010, 01:39:25 PM »
No this is not a repeat of the Coffee thread from a couple of weeks ago.  I'm talking about the machine you actually use on a daily basis to crank out delicious coffee in the morning.  My coffee maker died on me this morning so I'm in the market for a new one.  Does anyone have any good recommendos of a machine for home use?  Also I'm not going to spend $1000 on an espresso machine so don't bother with that.

I have this:

You can find it for well under $100 and it does a good job imo.  Only downside is it doesn't have a built in grinder so you have to grind seperately  It heats the brewing water much hotter than most comparably priced machines according to some food blog I read...that's why I bought it....supposedly that's a big deal or something. :dunno:

EDIT:
 $70

Yeah.  I had some amazing cuisinart.  Then my wife broke the pot.  And there were no replacement pots at any stores, so we just bought a cheap one.  I have a sweet cuisi coffee grinder tho.   :users:

Amazing, probably shouldn't get if you drink a ton of coffee. Works great for us though, all sorts of crap to choose from too. Tea, hot chocolate... and coffee

Have come very close to pulling the trigger on the Keurig Elite a few times.  If it wasn't for the cost involved in the pods I'd be using it now.

It's a little much, but it's worth it for the convenience. Plus, the first time you buy you get a code for two free boxes so we're paying roughly 25 cents a cup right now. Also, you can buy a little cup/filter thing that lets you use your own ground coffee in it too which makes it much more comparable.

you can get a decent espresso machine for much less than 1k.  if you are poor, these are ok too.

Oh yeah looks are important too.  this one's not bad.  My new machine needs to have an appropriate amount of black/stainless steel to add to the overall sexiness level of my kitchen countertop.  BTW I'm replacing a crappy $25 base level model Mr. Coffee that was about 6 or 7 years old.  Since this is something I use 5 or 6 times a week, spending a little more is not a problem.

French press.  Really can't beat them if you drink worthwhile coffee.
