did you, like, just look at total yardage for the season to come up with that?

chiefs are #3 in rushing at 4.7 YPP

Yes, because we were talking yardage. It's also interesting looking at the makeup of teams in the playoffs.

KC/Carolina/Arizona/Minn/Seattle are all top 8 in total rushing yards.

Only Arizona/Pitt/NE are top 8 in passing (next up is Washington at 11 and Denver at 14)

Everyone knows takeaway differential is huge but it's crazy looking at it:

Maybe that's why they value Alex and drafting defense.

That really isn't true though. Both stats are important, but if the Chiefs rushed every play, they wouldn't have as high a YPP on run plays. Total offensive YPP is valid, but I don't think divided between run/pass is always the most important.

I don't mean that it is bogus, but I think there are enough variables that a YPG or total yards (at this point in the year anyway) can be as valid or more valid.

Stats are what you make of em. Nothing is perfect. Can't take into account teams that get up big early and rush to kill clock in the second half when they know the box is loaded, etc.

I'm sure there's adv. stat nerds that have DVOA or some other crazy stat being the best to use.
