seriously tho guys. it's time for some real talk. the chiefs absolutely cannot extend smith's contract. he walks after this year period. period. end of story. do you understand me. bowe too. and flowers. and any other over the hill dork who isn't worth his contract. that means succop. and colquitt.

but most importantly. smith has to go. and chase d also. give bray a shot. draft a kid this year. don't care. just stop running out 30 year old dorks who are okay, but not good enough.

i've had enough. enough i tell ya.

Tamba too. I love Tamba tho and I'll be real real sad when his time as a Chief is done.

Went and saw "Draft Day". There is only one scene with the Chiefs. They are trying to trade for a 30 year old QB coming off a knee injury.

THAT'S OUR CHIEFS!

Last I remember, Smith was not the problem w/ the team last year.....did you guys watch the playoff game?  The D just gave the eff up.

Smith is the best Qb we have had since Green.  We do not draft a QB this year, since we don't have a 2nd rounder.  Sign Smith to a 4 year deal, and in the next draft or two, sign our QB of the future and let him learn, ala Rogers at GB.
Awaiting the inevitable KITN

If Bridgewater falls as far as the 23rd pick, the Chiefs had better pick him up.

If Bridgewater falls as far as the 23rd pick, the Chiefs had better pick him up.

I'd bet Bridgewater falls out of the first round.  I think Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles, Garoppolo, Savage, Carr, Mettenberger, McCarron, Boyd, and Murray are all better prospects than any QB last year. My guess is that Bridgewater falls out of the first and then a couple of teams position themselves to snag him early in day 2.  If I were the Texans, I take Clowney with pick #1 and the best QB available with my second rounder.

My guess as to what happens: Chiefs trade back and end up with late first and late second round picks.  They end up with a QB that isn't Manziel, Bortles, or Bridgewater.

I would rather them pick an offensive weapon (WR or Amaro) than a QB in round 1, but if they don't plan on resigning Smith and get Bridgewater in the first they can open up a lot of cap space in 2015 with a starting QB on the rookie wage scale.

Bridgewater won't fall out of the first round if the Chiefs do the right thing and take him.

Complimenting Alex Smith with a playmaker WR is like complimenting velveeta with a fine wine.

Yeah lay off him. He's better than Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen and Matt Cassel!

I have and will continue to defend Smith as an average starting QB in the league.  With his contract having a year remaining and the amount of QB prospects in the draft though, this is a good draft to try to upgrade.

Yeah he's average. So lets just roll the dice for 2014 and then let his average butt go to FA.

Also I just read the part of Pipe's awful awful post where he said sign Smith to a 4 year deal.

i was going to post my thoughts then realized ChiCat summed it up perfectly here. i had no problem with acquiring Smith last year to be our QB for 2-3 years, but let's draft a stud.

I'm excited about the possibility of having a starting QB on the rookie wage scale.  There is a reason so many teams have young QBs and make runs in the playoffs.  The QBs are usually just above average but they save all their money to spend on other need positions.  That's pretty much why the Ravens and Steelers have declined while the Bengals, with probably the worst QB of the 3, have improved.

Flacco and Roethlisberger both have super bowl rings. Dalton doesn't have a playoff win, IIRC. He's absolutely the worst.
