I love that cf3's reasoning for why Smith is a bad QB is that he overthrew a guy who he'd never thrown a ball to in a game where we put up 44 points without Jamaal Charles.

Listen, I've said all along the guy is middle of the pack. maybe 14th best in the league at best, but probably more like 17th or 18th. Fine to have him for next year while he's under contract, but don't let one game against an absolutely horrible defense trick you into thinking he's going to take you somewhere.

What level of success does Smith need to have for you to believe in him? No one would argue that he is an elite quarterback.  But he could absolutely take a team to the Super Bowl.

Win a playoff game for the Chiefs.

Do you think he's incapable of doing that? That would be a little ridiculous.

Yeah, he won in the playoffs in San Francisco.  Why wouldn't he be able to do the same in KC?

I dunno man. This is exhausting. I just thought it was funny that loser was picked last.

If the Chiefs just would have benched his ass when they were up 38-10, they might have won.

New topic: Secondary.

Now we all agree the secondary is poop city. What should we do to remedy the situation?

For as much as you trash Alex Smith you are pretty polite to the secondary

No point in trashing them. No one on here will argue that they don't suck. I can simply be like "they suck" and everyone's like "totally".

cartier... lets play would you rather. ok? heres the first one:

would you rather... see j-dub and ms gronkzongas be happy, get married and be the best man in the wedding... or... see alex smith bagging your groceries next year instead of playing QB for the chiefs?

THoTUC I understand. I think the perception of me is that I hate Smith, which is not true. I just don't want to give him an extension.

J-Dub falling in love and being married is gonna top any sports scenario, but seeing Alex Smith bagging my groceries would be really awesome.

I'd make that dork double bag it.

ok I don't think you get the rules of this game. you have to pick one or something bad happens to you. I don't make the rules I just enforce them. you probably didn't know the rules though so ill give you a pass there...

next one:

would you rather... see little cf3 become a Rhodes scholar and become the president of the USA in your lifetime... or see alex smith hold a press conference where he declines the pro bowl, calls himself a loser and admits to being bad at football all while wearing skinny jeans and a mesh tank top... all on the same day the chiefs win the super bowl?

Cartier, I agree with your assessment of the Chiefs' secondary.  Something MUST be done about it.  I've put together a list of some of the potential cornerbacks and safeties for your enjoyment.

Please note that these players are not guaranteed to actually hit free agency.

Potential FA CB's

*Top Tier (in no particular order):
Alterraun Verner, Titans
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Broncos
Vontae Davis, Colts
Captain Munnerlyn, Panthers
Tracy Porter, Raiders
Aqib Talib, Patriots
Charles Tillman, Bears

Other Notable CB's:
Brent Grimes, Dolphins
DeAngelo Hall, Redskins
Corey Graham, Ravens
Will Blackmon, Jaguars
Quentin Jammer, Broncos
Terrell Thomas, Giants
Walter Thurmond III, Seahawks
Richard Marshall, Chargers
Sam Shields, Packers

Potential FA Safties:

*Top Tier (in no particular order):
Yeremiah Bell, Cardinals
Jairus Byrd, Bills
Malcolm Jenkins, Saints
Bernard Pollard, Titans
TJ Ward, Browns
Donte Whitner, 49ers

Other Notables:
Nate Allen, Eagles
Antoine Bethea, Colts
Ryan Clark, Steelers
Jim Leonhard, Bills
Ryan Mundy, Giants
James Ihedigbo, Ravens
Brandon Meriweather, Redskins
Mike Mitchell, Panthers

* "Top Tier" as determined by the SabiNation Player Rankings Database

As you can see, the Chiefs should have some options in free agency to upgrade their secondary with.  So CartierFor3, I ask you: which of these studs would you most like to see in Chiefs Red and Gold?

Gonna level with ya here Sabi. I'm not probably gonna be that good at evaluating these guys. I'm looking for someone who fits the following criteria:

1. Cornerback (doesn't have to be a true shutdown guy, but a big upgrade). I assume our scheme will remain somewhat similar to last year, so if we're going to play man all damn day, we need someone who can cover.
2. Not needing a long term deal. I don't want to have to sign some contract like Revis got
3. Youngish (no grandpas)

You tell me Sabi, who looks best?
