His #ourguy tho!

He's much more Jake Waters than #ourguy4life Daniel Sams.

He's the 2nd best running back on this team and the smartest guy we have on this team.  :gocho:

You're confusing cautious with smart, he probably is the 2nd best back right now though.

They are ok I guess. I like when he took offense to being called a game manager.

game manager is the most maddening ESPN invention of all time. if alex smith throws for <300 ypg, he is not even considered a QB. he does not play "quarterback", he plays "game manager". it's rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

That's not entirely true. You also have to not turn the ball over to be a game manager. If you have too many turnovers with no production, then you are back to being a QB, albeit a shitty one.

Game manager is a QB who has modest numbers and doesn't turn it over.  Basically, won't win you games but won't lose you games.

If Alex had better stats and no turnovers, he'd be elite.  That's the difference.

Well, yeah, it's a PC term for QB's who are very agerage.  I don't think ESPN created the term, though.  I think coaches created the term so as not to insult their less-than-stellar starting QBs.

it's totally a modern convention - up until the most recent era of the NFL the great QBs were all "game managers" - Bradshaw started it, Montana perfected it and Aikman almost pretty much embodied it.

Meanwhile, the Fouts and Marino types could never get over the hump.  Elway finally won at the end of his career playing like a "game manager" and both Manning and Brady won their Super Bowls playing more like a "game manager" than a gunslinger.

are you sitting there in your chair and trying to explain what "game manager" means? because i know what it means and that is not the problem here

you think a coach calling his quarterback anything other than a quarterback is not insulting? and ron jaworski invented it or at least is the worst offender

Well, he's still a quarterback.  He's just a "game managing" quarterback.  This isn't some special NFL nuance.  You see this in all other sports.  Chalmers is a "distributor" for the Heat.  Not a top-20 PG, but he's valued for playing good defense, hitting open shots, and getting the Big3 the ball.  Chris Anderson is valued for his defense.  I mean, they're still PG and PF at their respective positions, but their value isn't their offensive production.  MLB is replete with shortstops and catchers who can't hit for crap but play great defense or "call a great game."

Smith is a QB, who isn't great at throwing the deep ball.

This should be fun

This actually has me a little nervous

Then you'll super nervous to learn that Arian Foster did not practice today.

I'm generally scared for the first start of a young QB because the D has little footage on them.  With this being a guy who started the season 3rd string and with our D, I'm pretty excited at the prospect.

They called Carson Coffman a game manager and he constantly turned the ball over.

But yeah, that term is the worst. You know who else are game managers? Coaches.

oh yeah, Daniel should be an excellent scout team QB to prep for Keenum except Keenum is much less mobile (2 acls @ UofH iirc)
