These numbers aren't a jab towards Smith, but just more eye popping numbers Mahomes is putting up. Being great on 3rd down and in the Red Zone.

1) Passing on 3rd & 1 - 3rd & 9, Mahomes is 68% (30-44) and 28 First downs.  Alex last year 53% (50-94) 37 First downs

2) Red Zone Pass TDs.  Mahomes 21 in 9 games, Alex 13 in 15 games.

3) Ball at Opponent 1-10 yd line = Mahomes is 14-26, Alex 11-22.  So similar production.  However, when ball is between Opponent 11-19 yd line = Mahomes 19-24 & Alex 20-48.  So in the Red Zone .... 33-50 vs 31-70

Mahomes is just flat out phenomenal. No reason to even break it down. Dude (tj) s taking butthurt to a whole new level. Best part about it? Mahomes isn’t even a turd. He’s got better QB coach speak vs any veteran QB out there. Gives props to everyone else for his success. It’s really amazing. So easy to root for. #2 most sold jersey in the NFL right now.

Some teams will be tentative because of his size.  Some smarter teams might be tentative if they don't have an offense to properly utilize him (though there are always dumb teams).  I don't think he gets top 5 WR money but probably top 10.

I know it's naive to think, but hopefully he feels a sense of loyalty to the Chiefs for giving him a shot minus his past and can agree to an extension this off season. Man needs to get paid tho. Pretty sure he's making less than a mill a year right now with his current contract.

Hunt will be cheap enough.  He won't get Gurley money and otherwise, RBs are cheap.  Our defense is where contracts need to get figured out in the short term.  Houston and Berry are getting paid too much to never play.  Ford will be due for a payday which will probably be better off being somewhere else.  Jones will need to get paid before long.  Also, we need NFL defensive backs beyond Fuller.

I could see us throwing a franchise tag on Ford this seasons and releasing either Houston or Berry or both.

they won't make the mistake of franchising Ford, so i think they'll sign him to deal. they will also re-sign Hill and Jones. Both those guys are like hilariously young and productive.

next year's draft will be DBs and interior O-line depth. i think they like O'Daniel and Speaks and Lucas; they'll all be 2019 starters

i am curious how they work dirty dan back in the lineup over the next few weeks. i don't think he can replace ron parker. maybe split snaps with Lucas, or be a 3rd safety in certain situations?

now that i think about it i suppose he could replace parker. the most surprising thing to me about parker is that he keeps getting beat by being in the wrong spot, like he doesn't know where he's supposed to be, even though he is the most familiar with the scheme of all the safeties.
