Isn't he projected to go early in the first? They talk on the Dallas radio that he could go as early as top 5.

The Chiefs have made it clear they will take the best player available, regardless of position. Unless they pick in the top 2 or so, that will very rarely be a first round QB. Too many teams reach at the position. I wouldn't consider him as "dropping" either as there is no consensus that he is a top prospect, just that a QB needy team might gamble with him.

Basically, the Chiefs would have to think much higher of him than the Browns, Cowboys, Eagles, Rams, 49ers, Bills, Jets, and Texans as well as any other prospect on their draft board.

I really hate that the Broncos won the SB this year but they did prove that you can still win Super Bowls with defense. They overcame how terrible Manning was and won anyway.

So, the Chiefs really need to re-sign Howard, Smith, Hali and Johnson.

Smith and Johnson. Howard is wanting too much and Hali is a ticking time bomb.

Yep, Smith and Johnson for me too. Time to sink or swim with Dee Ford, only bring Hali back if he takes a cheap, 1 or 2 year contract. Howard was great this year but he's really a luxury, high end backup with a healthy Poe. Johnson is still great at what he does and if that didn't go away with the Achilles, it's not going away over the summer. Smith was the perfect compliment to Peters, he's actually my #1 re-sign hope because no one is ready to replace him and I don't want them relying on a rookie on the opposite side of Peters.

My take is to keep Johnson and start working on a deal with Poe. Smith is going to get overpaid. I think the Chiefs can bring in a vet in the next tier of talent for a much better deal. Draft OL and D while keeping an eye on QB and WR.
