I've never seen a more poorly managed game in terms of time than that one. Just atrocious. And Bob Sutton should be fired, like, yesterday.
Did you not watch the Eagles Super Bowl game?

1st and goal at the 1 with 2:50 left, barely a minute left when they score. The spike on 1st down with :26 on the clock before halftime.

This is the true slothfence my friends.

Chiefs today.....
1) At one point, they were 8/12 on 3rd down and were ave 5.2 yds per carry on their 19 rushes. And had 6 lousy pts in 5 drives.

Why... Smith game mgmt and Reid clock mgmt just poor. Alex burns 2 early TOs. They spike ball with 26 secs( dumb) and Alex gets delay of game. Add in our passing game ave 3.1 yds per pass attempt.

2) Defense had 37 sacks, 28 TOs last 11 weeks. Today they didn't make 1 crucial, game changing play. 0 sacks 0 TOs, very few hits on Brady. Allowed crucial 3rd and 10,3rd and 13 plays on 1st TD drive. Let NE have 98 yd TD drive on 2nd scoring TD for Pats.

Brady ends day with 67% comp and 302 yds. They were so 1 dimensional but Tom was Never uncomfortable, barely pressured....and this from a team whose RBs had 6 carries 20 yds

Tom Brady is really, really good.  He does what he needs to in order to win, just about every time.  Belichick is not a genius, there is no Patriot Way.  Tom Brady is really good. He is the Patriots.  It's just sad that Bilicheck gets to act like a sour, tortured genius and get away with it because of his GOATHOF QB.

This 100%. Brady is BITB, he makes everyone look amazing, and he simply know exactly what it takes to win a game. Pats will be in the shitter once he finally retires, or if he slows down too much and the game gets away from him. Alex Smith is a solid, middle of the road QB, if he was the Pats QB tonight and also the Chiefs QB, Chief's Smith wins this game by 10+. Brady is that good and important to his team. Like I said earlier ITT when they cut to Brady fired up like a madman  (it was about the 2nd quarter) I knew no way the Chiefs were winning that game. Brady wasn't going to allow it.

I enjoyed watching the Chiefs huddle with 1:31 left and down 2 scores with the clock running.

It's like nobody on the Chiefs team/sideline is aware that there is a strategy to managing the clock.

small things that would be helpful to the chiefs and fist pump-y to me:

-chiefs get the ball to start 2nd half
-albert wilson gets an early catch
-dee ford does something positive

1/3

big things that would result in a full-on dick flopping double high five:

-tamba gets a signature tomahawk chop sack-fumble, recovered by dontari who somehow rumbles 30 yards for a touchdown
-kelce hurdles somebody on his way to a first down
-brady overthrows edelman, who gets hit by peters anyway, and the way they fall to the ground, peters' dong is like, right in edelman's face

1/3

other things that would result in high fives and fist pumps:

-patriots go for it on 4th & 1 from midfield and derrick johnson stuffs brady's sneaky sneak
-maclin suprises everyone and streaks down the sideline, alex smith throws a perfect ball but the patriots dude grabbed maclin's arm and it's incomplete but we get the PI call. plus it's like man, that was a good ball from alex right there, and also everyone's like wow maclin's ankle looks pretty good doesn't it?
-cairo nails a 49 yarder into the wind before halftime

1/3 (field goal was shorter tho)

Andy Reid is very good at hanging his dress shirts but usually he mismanages his time and fails to hang them all up.

Nailed it.

the clock management had nothing to do with losing the game. we scored with over a minute left and all 3 timeouts iirc

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/01/19/chiefs-final-drive-was-historically-slow/

Quote
The Chiefs, trailing 27-13 in a drive that started with 6:29 on the clock, marched 80 yards down the field for a touchdown. The touchdown is the good part. The bad part is that the Chiefs took more than five minutes off the clock in the process.

How bad is that? It’s almost unheard of. According to the drive finder at Pro Football Reference, there have been 2,111 drives in NFL games since 1998 in which the team with the ball trailed by 9-17 points (in other words, they needed to score more than once but weren’t totally out of it) with less than seven minutes left. Out of those 2,111 drives, only one took more time than the 5:16 the Chiefs took off the clock on Saturday.

It was ridiculously bad, but the Davis fumble to start the 3rd was the killer for the Chiefs.

Trailing by two TDs in the 4th quarter is a poor time to have a 16 play, 5:16 drive. They were at the 1 yard line with 2:33 left and only ran one play before the 2 minute warning. Every Chiefs fan I know was irate when that happened. Scoring before the 2 min warning is paramount in that situation.
