I don't think they offered snazzy black/red combo when I was in HS, just white IIRC. Would have bought and worn everywhere if I could have gotten those in your pic.

  Had a kid in school who had them, didn't notice they did much for him but made him walk funny.  I did the squat machine a lot in wheight lifting class.

as a 5'10" seventh grader i was able to grab the rim (even pinned a couple of blocked shots off the backboard) as a 6' senior i was able to grab the rim

the cheap strap-on version of strength shoes didn't help either

Kid's name is actually Alex Williams. I actually saw him play once last year, 6'8", slender build. Runs, jumps, and moves well overall for a kid that height. Good set shooter from 3, and that's probably the strength of his game offensively but also showed decent touch finishing around the rim. Decent shotblocker, but needs to improve rebounding and definitely needs to get stronger. Don't think he had any major DI offers but still thumbs up to our staff getting him to walk on, he's a prospect with a nice base of size, skills, and athleticism to build from.

If you're in the Topeka area, you can catch him along with Nino and Sprads at the KBCA All Star Game on Aug 5.

Well, so much for that, GPC'er with super insidery info that Williams will be headed to Cloud Co CC  instead of KSU this fall. In addition, Sprads won't be playing in the KBCA all-star game tonight due to a family emergency.
 
It's all up to Nino to bring now.
