books. i only bought them if absolutely necessary. generally would wait several weeks to determine if class really required a book.

If you're taking English classes, CHECK WITH THE PUBLIC LIBRARY AND HALE FIRST. Saved tons of $$$ in various literature classes.

Really surprised that bookstores can stay in business with the internet so easily accessible these days. Bookstore tried to charge me 120 for a 15 dollar book this summer. Suck it Varneys.

Pretty simple, you take the blank check your parents gave you for books and buy new books at Varneys for EVERY class along with any KSU swag you had your eyes on. When your parents ask you how you spent $600 on books you tell them to GTFOMF and pay my frat dues before the first kegger.

FYI new books have a much higher resale value at the end of the semester than used books.

Helicopter parents. Mom buys them while dad plots ways to come back for Homecoming, kill his brain in Aggieville on and sneak back to finger bang his son's female dorm mates. At least that's what dad's telling you when he buys you a shot glass when mom isn't looking.

yeah checked varneys and they are way more expensive.

anyone ever use "annotated" textbooks? i guess they are the same as usual with extra notes/answers

Abebooks.com is the one I use. My girlfriend told me to check out chegg.com which is basically a place to rent textbooks.

Yeah, new books have a higher resale value but it's not worth it unless that's all you can find i.e. a new edition. Just check Amazon and buy the cheapest one. Hell, half the time you can buy the most recent outdated edition for like 5 bucks and there is like no noticable difference. Worst comes to worst, just send it back if it's too much different.

I subscribed to 'clam's theory and only needed about 1 book a semester. The one I needed I got this way. A graph might be missing or might be on page 367 instead of 365, but otherwise it worked just fine.

1. Torrent, usually can find the eBook or PDF version. Sometimes they may be an edition behind but no biggie.

Used books are always better. Most of the time the notes are taken for you!

Having the right edition is overrated. They usually don't change much.

You can also just tell the instructor that the only edition you could find was slightly outdated and they will know what small differences there are between editions. Least that's what I did, I imagine just telling the prof you bought a cheaper book would prob work just fine these days. Unless he's some old bitter SOB.

Had a guy try to tell me that KSU and KU don't even have textbooks anymore they are all on-line. You just go to a website and download it. I

and said whatever. This guy has never been to college except HVAC Votech. I let him believe what he wanted and walked away.

Anyway, I always just found someone who is taking the class before me offer them what they would get for resale at the bookstore, usually got a pretty good deal. Internet was not as big when I was in school.

Most textbooks you can buy online, but they are still expensive if you go through the traditional retail channels, but still less expensive than buying a brand new textbook.

I try to do PDF/eBooks as much as possible so I can read my textbooks at work and not get caught.
