Cheap and fast are not usually things I want associated with my personal appearance.  A bad haircut really fucks up your flow.

not when you shave your head, bro.  can't really screw that up, unless they take an ear off or something.

I just discovered Floyd's Barbershop here in CO. Pretty sure every girl there is a former model turned hipster hair stylist. So awesome.

Junior's, it used to sit right next to where Kathouse is now, the guy smoked like crazy watched Jeopardy whenever it was on, but he was a good old school barber. Manhattan passed the no smoking inside businesses law so he just packed up shop and quit the biz, what a badass  :gocho:

He cut my hair from the time I was 3 until I graduated, and I think the Collegian wrote an article about him a couple years ago

I'm looking for a new barber here in town and wanted some suggestions.  I've heard Campus Hairstyling and Wildcat Barber Shop are good but I'm not sure who to ask for there.

My haircut is about as simple as it gets but it's really surprising how badly people can screw it up.

Randy at Wildcat Barber is the best, and a good guy. Has a lot of traveling advice as well.

Yeah, he's good if you like being hit on the entire time.

lol Randy from 1 to 10 on the gay scale is like a 1 1/2. Get out of Manhattan KS sometime. The guy used to be married and own a ranch in Montana. And FYI if you really want a quality hair cut from a barber find a gay dude

I believe they like to be called hair stylists.

This is gonna sound bad, but seriously.  Go to Junction City.  Find a barber shop on the north end that's ran by a little Asian gal.  (there's a few around)  Spend five bucks and you'll get the best, fastest haircut you've ever had, all capped off with a massage. (shoulders and neck)

Plus if you're a clippers guy, they typically use those vacuum clipper things so when you're done, there's no itchy neck.   :excited:

yeah. i go to sues. go there every 2-3 weeks. it's actually ten bucks but you are in and out in like three minutes. love them. used to go to roger for a long time. he's great. also, if you don't want to talk w/ him, then don't. he'll catch on after a while. i got haircuts from him where prob less than 10 words were exchanged. small talking barbers are the worst.

Well, he's asked for my straight friends' numbers a lot. And had me turn around to see my new haircut (not a haircut I got from him). That's at least a 4. I have a lot of gay friends who aren't THAT gay.

if your def of good is a forty five minute haircut with thirty minutes of painful convo and ten minutes of cutting, then yeah...go to brian at haynes (if he's still there, doubtful).

He probably asks to see haircuts a lot i'd imagine. the number thing, yeah little more gay sounding. my buddy swears he's straight and he's seen him hooking up with girls at the bar. dunno but he cuts good hair

My haircut is about as simple as it gets but it's really surprising how badly people can screw it up.

Describe better both your simple haircut and the ways it's been screwed up.

It's generally a #2 on the side and somewhere around a #6 on top but most just use clippers for that.  The person before my last barber would use clippers and after the haircut I'd notice that some pieces of hair would be a lot longer than others which drove me insane.  By the time I needed to get a haircut again, I'd have some places where my hair was 4 inches long and other spots where it was 2 inches long on top.

My last guy was great, but I continually told him to keep it low in the back on my neck and he keeps cutting it really high.  Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it looks pretty bad from what I'm told.  I put up with it for a long time because the guy is an EMAW, but my wedding is this Saturday so I can't risk it.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I'm going to try to get in with somebody today so I'll let you know how it goes.

Not sure if its still there, but I went to a shop right next door to Kites a couple of years ago. They had porn mags available to peruse while getting your hair cut. This made it weird when a mom brought her son in for a haircut and there were magazines on the wall for his review. Quite odd, but amazing at the same time.

Personally, I haven't paid for a haircut for over 2 years now thanks to my roommate's Flowbee

Mrs. Hound?

I'll have to inform her that's her new nickname.  I'm sure she'll be thrilled, especially since she's unfamiliar with my seedy past on a lesser website.

Forgot to update this thread,

Roger at Campus was great.  Listened to what I needed, and was excited to be cutting my hair for the wedding.  Hair was looking good and I'm very glad I made the switch.  He really didn't talk too much like some people seemed to be bothered by, maybe he was just concentrating more than usual.

Wedding went well.  It was very EMAW so I'll post some of the more EMAWish pictures when I get them back.

How'd rd do on the sign?

I was all excited to see it, then it wasn't there so I got some spare drywall and karate chopped it.  Then I remembered he probably just wrote it in invisible ink on my driveway.

Hmm, that's disappointing.  Maybe this can be rectified at UCLAPak.
