Nobody has ever heard of Blink 182? Death Cab? OK.
Bassnectar was one of the headliners at Kanrockas / Lolla, etc.

I guess I just don't follow your logic. My list was less pretentious because
A) a lot of the artists are fairly mainstream, and
B) I called my list "My favorite" songs not "The Best" songs of 2011

i can only imagine the arguments at the Good Music Alert offices as they fought between Capital Cities being locked in at 13 versus swapping them with Stornoway at 11.

i mean, Stornoway at 11?  wut?  i don't even.  i mean, had Caitlin Rose not held down the 14 spot then i maybe could understand but as things sit today over there at GMA....oh well.

#firstworldproblems amirite?

Most people couldn't recognize a death cab for cutie or bassnectar song and I'm pretty sure no one even knew Blink 182 put out an album.

Great point on the semantics of the list title, though.

I'm just saying, on a scale of

Quote
Katy Perry - Firework
Chris Brown - Look at Me Now
Kanye West & Jay-Z - Ni---as in Paris
Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks
Pitbull - Give Me Everything
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
Rihanna - We Found Love
Nicki Minaj - Super Bass
Adele - Rolling in the Deep

to michigancat's list, my list falls some where in the middle on the pretentious scale. agreed?

I think it's like anything else really.  A lot of it is natural ability, but a lot of it is practice too.

I'd bet if you practiced, SD, you'd get better.  You'd probably still suck, but you'd improve.

I would also guess they have a lot of lines that they reuse and/or have ready before they start.

I think it's a great list. Adele and LMFAO were close to my list. Chris Brown could have been, too. Foster the People was on my 2010 list. :gocho:
