I like when the brass is really wailing, I don’t like the synth crap.

the brass is wailing in every banda song. I used to rock the bay area banda station all the time, love it. I'd shazam everything I liked. Side note: did you know you can set up a spotify playlist of your shazammed songs??? It's great!!!

Anyway this was probably my favorite song from the year or so I drove around listening to banda:

I don't listen to nearly as much music since I'm not traveling and commuting much, but I still love end of year lists. A couple that I really liked that I heard on these:

(of course their brooklyn show is already sold out :curse:)

(LMAO lil b vibes)

also my favorite songs that were new to me in 2021 is here!

I'm listening (once again) to Mayer Hawthorne's "Where Does This Door Go?".  Goddamnit this is so good. Easily in my top ten albums.

My son had been coming home from school and asking me to play different pop songs. Its kind of hilarious as I listen to absolutely zero pop music. Like, i've heard of Taylor Swift and Ed Shearan, but if I was in a store and their songs were playing, I would have no idea who it was. Just not my jam. I will play it for him and he will ask if I liked it. I'm trying to do better and not just absolutely destroy his terrible music choices. Yesterday we played something and he asked me and I just said, "buddy, I like music with drums and guitars". He laughed. He is brutal right back to me though. I'll be playing something and will watch and see if he likes it. He is terrible at hiding it too. His go to is, "dad, do you like this song?" I'll be honest, its pretty crushing when I get that question.

one of my daughters is really into music. we'll hear a song the other is playing and be like "Wait, YOU like this????" Other daughter is like "you guys always like the same stuff, why do you always act surprised" and she's not wrong

What's your favorite All Star/Combo band? Prophets of Rage popped up in my car yesterday and made me think of this. Can't go wrong with Rage, Cyprus Hill, and Public Enemy. They rough ridin' rule and I wish they had put out more stuff. My all time fav is prob Audioslave.

RIP Mark Lanagan from the Screaming Trees and about 17 other collab bands. The Trees were pretty underrated in terms of the 90's Seattle bands. He had an awesome voice. There are some pretty great YouTubes with him jamming with Cobain and others.

This is prob one of the more popular ones resurfacing today.
