Well color me  for not being familiar with Underworld.

sometimes its better to discover a band like that way after the fact. then you have an entire library of new music that you will probably like more often then not.

also, i don't remember if i posted this before, and i don't think i did. and i'm too lazy to go back and look. so if its a repost feel free to chastise me.

perfect example of a really dumb song being supremely catchy. plus it makes me laugh each time the chorus comes on.

Dubnobasswithmyheadman.  I recommend you start with this seminal Underworld album.  Mmm, Skyscraper is still one of favorites of all time.

Then move onto Second Toughest of the Infants, breaking them into the mainstream after Born Slippy was included on the Trainspotting soundtrack.

if you dig underworld you may like faithless. not a guarantee, but similar in stature. don't know if you've heard of em, chances are that you have, but just in case.

:nono:

when I saw the description and heard the intro, I thought it would be lame.  But it isn't.  It's fantastic.

OOOOOOOOOOH YOU GOT SMOKED, BOY.

upon review of several new electronic artists...

joy orbison = good, mixture of house incorporated as well and can even be a little dancy depending on the mix you hear. takes note from jdilla in some ways, depending on the track. & are pretty decent representations, the former being one of his more heralded or classic tracks to fans, and the later off his new ep that dropped this year. both different in their own ways.

actress = real good, his newer stuff gets real interesting, but probably less accessible. his stuff seems to be all over the place though. can't really pigenhole him into one type of sound. so i'll just put a song i like:

Darkstar = i really really enjoy all the songs which don't feature vocals. the songs that did were very similar to air, or the notwist. except with much more processed and altered vocals. basically future pop. to put it in terms that might relate to a bigger audience think the postal service, but not gay. i hate using that comparison, but its one of the only typically mainstream artists that in anyway resembles it. non vocal featured songs are similar to artists like four tet. non-vocal & vocal features - that video alone is worth the watch, very cool.

pariah = excellent, r&s records seems to be pretty on point with this stuff. crusty you might enjoy
sampling The Original's "I've never begged before"  but its not entirely indicative of the other things i listened to from him. everything in his new ep is much more subdued, and strays away from that j-dilla sound,  which i enjoy immensely:

mount kimbie = a project that includes james blake, and therefore is pretty f'n good. highly recommend it if you like that sort of thing.

So fellas, I just came across the band "Fun."  Anybody familiar with them?  The lead singer is the former front man of The Format, but I gotta say, I like this more than The Format, and I liked the Format quite a bit.

Thoughts?
