2025 - Week 0 - Overreactions

I might as well overreact and write some negative Nelly predictions down based on the football game just played.

1. This is the year KU beats us.
2. This team is going to lose an out of conference game (and I am not counting Arizona toward this), probably Army.
3. The game against Colorado will be for bowl eligibility.

Feel free to tell me how full of crap I am and throw these back in face later.  Also, add your own!

What makes you think Army is capable of beating us? From everything I've heard and seen, they are down this year.

As someone who had to witness this atrocious game in person, there is a lot to worry about.

O-line looked pretty good on passing downs but we were not exactly opening up holes in the run game and we had some stupid ill-timed penalties.

No idea what happened to Edwards. I guess he got hurt?

Defense leaked like a faucet the second half. Not sure where the pressure went.

Most frustrating is our play calling. Wells sucks. He is what we thought he was....

Bottom line, we looked poorly coached in nearly every facet of the game. Losing CK continues to sting...

We lose at KU for sure. At least we don't have to worry about Avery going to the NFL next year! And I honestly don't think he transfers, but then he comes back next year and we go 8-4.

We'll always have our daydreams of how good this era could have been.

- our special teams coach is a dud, and some of these losses will be close/come down to the inability to make a field goal
- Wells and the offense will improve, he’ll do enough to keep his job

Agreed. I’m getting there but have much to learn.

I do think the that KSU fanbase (along with many others) have a sinking feeling that we’re on the cusp of becoming irrelevant and need to make something memorable happen now. Honestly, though, I can scarcely remember BSFS louder than times that we were struggling for bowl eligibility.

I’m not sure the breakout 9-3 years get us into the championship game with the big conference schedules.  And yes, I’m sticking to the theme of this thread.

Keeping our heads above water and in bowl games over the years is commendable considering who we are and the landscape of crap CFB is these days, but man it would be nice to do better than 8-4 and a mid-December bowl each year.
