I got tired of X pushing far right content to me. Also, a pretty large majority of people I regard as worthwhile posters moved to bluesky. Also, I have a fear of doing old, outdated stuff. Also, I'd be happy to see Elon completely ruined.

I don't know for sure why Spencer left Twitter but the whole platforming and amplifying and encouraging Nazis thing is a problem for a lot of people. I don't think Elon would be as hated as much (pre-DOGE) if he hasn't made it a priority to amplify the voices of Nazis.

He and Holly Anderson have run an annual fundraising drive to raise money for a refugee resettlement charity for more than a decade. Jason Kirk donated a sizable amount of the profits from his novel to The Trevor Project. I'm not sure any of them said exactly why they left, but it is very obvious The Shutdown Fullcast crew doesn't vibe with what Twitter has become.

twitter is the gold standard. i spent like 10-15 years curating my list of follows. it was an incredible run following global news events live, getting all my stupid sports news, and lol'ing at some of the most hilarious stuff i've ever read.
however, once elon took over and mumped up the checkmark system, and mumped up the comment sorting system, and allowed the app to be flooded with bots, and amplified nazi crap, and promoted right wing sponsored ads all the time, i decided to delete the app because the user experience completely cratered. i still have an account and i still click on twitter links but i am a lot happier not scrolling through that anymore.
lmk when bluesky is ready for the big time (probably never)

National CFB is great on bluesky, zero Cat info on there though. National MLB is ok as well and some of the Royals beat have moved over. Sports is still very lacking in general though. I don't use it as much as I used Twitter so that's a good thing in general for me at least. I don't miss the Nazis and crypto bros at the top of every comment regardless of topic much at all. It's such a bummer that they ruined it, but probably better for my brain not being on it anyway.
