Man, Houston too incompetent to even get a shot off in their last couple of possessions.
i’ve rewatched their final play several times and can’t figure out what kelvin drew up

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

What he didn't draw up at any point in the last 10 minutes was how to handle the blitzing of Houstons primary ball handlers around the perimeter. Just had no answer for that and it was pretty shocking.

Exactly. Tracy Wolfson said Sampson's message in the huddle was to be tougher. Like, how is being tougher supposed to help with perimeter pressure???

I think it's good for Kansas State basketball fans to see. You can't rely on the coach to draw up plays and get buckets in close games even if you have one of the best teams in the country. Both because mistakes happen and great defenses are all about disrupting plays coaches draw up.

The other good reminder is that great teams just don't have very many close games. No one remembers late game plays when you win by 15 every night.

yeah I heard one of the announcers talking about the blitzing which stood out because i’ve been watching basketball my entire life and have never heard it described like that.

whatever- they would have been better to not have called the timeout

i’ve also never heard anyone butchering a name like charles was butchering kelvin’s after the game

Yeah, idk how much only have 1 TO was but I was hoping when the Florida foul + Tech was going to give him enough time to help do something, there was still like 4 minutes in the game, It was like he was a little too hands off.

Also Houston missed some pretty easy inside shots while also taking horrible inside shots. Their defense did the job, they absolutely harassed Florida all game.

I feel awful for Houston, essentially solidified themselves as the best program to never win it all. 7 FF, 3 title game appearances and losses. That last possession will haunt them until they win it all.

I only watched the last 10 minutes but Houston was frantic the whole time.  Nearly every shot was a floater, leaner, or step-back.  When they actually made one, it was usually off tip-ins or putbacks.

Houston not even getting shots up during those last possessions is a painful way to lose.

The game seemed to turn when Florida got that tech.  After that Houston racked up like five or six fouls in like a minute or so.  Good call by the assistant on the bench.

On the first tech, for sure. It definitely woke up Florida, and Houston was getting called for a ton of fouls. I honestly thought the second tech though was going to end it. It came at an completely inopportune time for Florida and was totally unforced by their player (and he knew it). But still, 4 foul shots which Houston made 3 of them, but it really only held it off longer.

There was a bigger time gap  between the two than I thought.
