there are so many problems with this program that it%u2019s difficult to even narrow the focus to a couple things that they should be focusing on

the question that staff needs to answer is how we got here, worse off than what was a terrible last season.

you keep going back to how terrible last season was, but if Tomlin plays I think they're an NCAA tournament team. They had 3 wins over top 10 teams and lost some really close games.

This year is just off the map terrible and I think it's a combination of having one player who got real minutes returning, putting too much faith in Dug (who had some sort of academic/attitude issues at Michigan), expecting career "glue guy" Hawkins to become a primary option, and expecting Nowell-like production from good scorers at low-mid majors. It was a complete recruiting/roster management failure IMO.

They bad. I only checked scores and at one point saw they were only down like 23-22, and then right after half it was like 45-23 and was like wtf.

DNG deserves so, so much better than this

I love him, picked him as #myguy three seasons ago, but I thought he was ass last night.

I mean, everyone was ass last night (except maybe Onyenso). Love DNG. As like a 3rd or 4th option. Plays hard and does a lot of good things.

As sad as it is, on a team where effort is a daily question (see Hawkins' postgame comments), it probably makes DNG stand out even more just because it's quite clear he gives a crap

The inbound pass to end half that was stolen and jumper made about sums up the season.

Ain't no way you watched the game and have this as a take. Again, love #myguy, but Onyenso had to play because Dave's guy had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, in the first damn half. If he wasn't hitting a 3 in Dave's face, he was putting his shoulder in Dave's chest and making easy layups. He was much better in the second half, but he was a looter in a riot at that point.

That's the single worst play I've seen from a K-State team since 2014 when we threw an inbounds pass right to a Texas Southern guy who hit a buzzer beater to beat us. It was the first half, so no one will remember it, but that play goes down with the Texas Southern play I talked about, letting Drew Lavender drive the length of the floor in Bramlage to let OU beat us, and the Pasco Fiasco. Just a complete and total embarrassment.

I'm not a Hawkins hater but him walking directly over to the coaches after and throwing his hand up all pissy didn't set well with me.

I'm a Hawkins hater, not because I think he's cheating K-State out of $2 million or whatever, but because I have watched him mope all over a basketball court for four years. He's been the king of bad body language.

I'm surprised how lazy he seems after spending 4 years with Underwood.

(I also didn't realize Brad has been at Illinois since 2017! Seems like yesterday)

YES, not mad at him procuring a bag. Disappointed when he should be one of the leaders of the team and he acts like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

I was definitely multi tasking while the game was on. Didn't they just go to a zone in the second half anyway? Onyenso  gave up tons of points in the minutes down the stretch from what I remember because he was in foul trouble.

They played zone pretty much exclusively in the second half, yeah. However, there was a particularly damning play in the first half, when they tried the zone the first half and that big absolutely bullied Dave, it was actually sad. They put Onyenso in so that he could body that dude up, whether they played man or zone. He was okay, just as assy as Dave was in the first half, but everyone else played so poorly that Onyenso definitely played well enough to earn more playing time. I saw enough to see why he got limited time here and at Kentucky though. If he has to guard a face up big, it's going to be bad. She a strong dude, and can get off the floor, but his lateral quickness is nil.

so there is no way he isn't our coach for at least 2 more years.  What is the answer because this is a brand of bad basketball that we may have never seen.

The nice thing about the transfer portal and NIL is that the roster is going to look completely different next year.
