We spend less on basketball than multiple big east teams. It's a lot easier to pump and dump 5 million into a random basketball season than to have sustainable investment into the entire infrastructure of athletics.
I wasn't impressed by the crowd last week, we were 7-2 and hadn't played at home in three weeks. I was surprised at how many people didn't leave early.
The point of all of that wasn't really to crap on the fans, but to illustrate that we aren't anywhere close to having the infrastructure and funds where we should be expecting to be a playoffs or nothing matters program. We are in the athletic middle class. I'm not going to tell anybody what to do, but, for me, if we're averaging 8 wins a season and in the mix for a conference championship, they we're golden.
