Harvard sez: $7/gal gasoline on the way!
« on: June 18, 2010, 08:52:02 AM »
Remember to thank Obama!   And since it's a carbon tax your electricity / natural gas / heating oil / etc. costs are going to go up by approximately the same amount (nearly 3x).

I would ride my bike to campus, problem is its uphill both ways.

I tried it once and I almost died.

Things will get pretty ugly if that happens.  Hopefully we can get someone in who will repeal it.

If anybody here thinks cap and trade sounds like a good idea, just google "Cap and Trade Spain" to see our future.

Or for the entire continent, it hasn't worked so well

It'll be much much worse here.  Modern Europe never really had a chance to develop a lifestyle and economy predicated on cheap and readily available energy like we did.  The dislocations caused by a sudden tripling of energy prices off the present baselines would be catastrophic.

Probably won't be quite that bad.  We'll just go from importing most of it to importing all of it.  Obama just might succeed in outsourcing US agriculture.   That said food prices will probably go up enough to take care of that obesity problem the witch is complaining about.
