Movies vs Series

Which do you prefer? For example, if all your favorite actors/writers/directors could do either, what would you rather experience them in?

The limited series thing is the best but i will say sometimes they go 10 when 7 would suffice

If I could watch Daniel Day Lewis do a season of Fargo, I'd happily die.

.

Agreed, but would rather see it go 2-3 episodes too long than try to stuff things in a 2 hr window.

Series every time for me.

A really good movie is much harder to accomplish and much more satisfying to me.

i do enjoy having movies/shows that mrs BAC and i both get into and discuss and enjoy, but mrs BAC cannot make it through a movie in one pass unless we physically go out to the theater. So for those reasons, i'm mr show. plus when that show is like a season/series finale and they make it a 2 hr epi, i can remind myself that this is basically a full length feature film.

(i also secretly love cliffhangers, so like oh i get nine cliffhangers instead of maybe 1? yeah you can sign me up for that)

Movies. Don't have enough time to consume every show I want to watch and it frustrates the hell out of me.

I don't watch much of either anymore but I am 100% more likely to start a series of half hour shows than sit down for a 3 hour movie. I actually love movies, but aside from watching with my kids, I rarely watch them at all anymore.

With rare exceptions the series are superior to movies these days. Better acting, better writing, better production and original themes.  One of the bigger  issues with series is when they jump the shark because they're trying to maximize profits by taking some one or two seasons beyond where they should have ended.

Series but with a distinct vision.  It's annoying when a TV show with a crisp 3 seasons or so goes on longer and obviously ran out of ideas.  As mocat mentioned, it's always pretty obvious when a TV show was planned for 8 episodes and then the execs wanted 10 so they stretch.

with this in mind, I can't imagine watching a weekly network TV show at this point. I know the internet has killed attention spans, but I don't care if it's the biggest cliffhanger ever created, if they made me wait a week, I almost guarantee I'd forget about it not watch it. Hell, my kids are watching Young Sheldon right now (which I find delightful), and I think about that after every episode. Even this ridiculous show has the occasional cliff hanger and I think about waiting an entire week to find out if Grandma got arrested and it makes me LOL.
