I would trade a full outlaw of abortion for universal healthcare, I think. The aggregate benefit of universal healthcare (lives saved, suffering reduced) would probably be enough to offset the dead mothers with birthing complications, unwanted children, and suffering rape/incest victims. I don't know the numbers for sure, so I might change my mind if I was way off on the cost/benefit analysis.
I guess that would be nearly universal healthcare. Ya know, because 1000 out of 1000 reputable OBGYNs unanimously agree that abortion is healthcare.
Even the ones who disagree with the choice to have the procedure done still acknowledge that it is a routine, safe, and in many cases medically necessary procedure.
Like, I hope like hell I never NEED a root canal, but should that day come, I will be so thankful that there are dentists/odontologists who are trained and willing to perform that procedure.
And sure, there will be those few kooks who refuse to perform the procedure, citing that maybe I should have thought of that before damaging my tooth
