Dear Kirk and John . . .
« on: June 14, 2010, 11:11:19 PM »
you survived.   Congrats dudes, eat some bread-sticks and have an adult beverage.

Now . . . do not ever, ever, ever, ever, ever do the following:

1.  Take on a, "Gee we're just happy to be here" approach like your predecessors.

2.  Think that ku is going to be our friend.

3.  Think anyone gives a $hit about time zones and Olympic Sports.

4.  Think that we'll always be a member of the Big 12.

Do we really think Kirk and John were asked to give input at the meetings today? Doubtful.

They survived, yes. But let's not kid ourselves into believing they had anything to do with it.

Ya, there are an awful lot of posters in the "Smoke your cigars" thread who owe these two a HUGE apology.  An awful lot.

Did you email this to them or expect them to read it here? I would actually like to see their response. I think they contributed to it, but I doubt the outcome would have been any different without them.

I think I'm gonna email them and complain about us getting ripped off in this new deal.

Put up or shut up and pledge money to the Olive Garden gift card that will be presented to Schultz by ChiCat, MIR and myself on behalf of goEMAW.com.  Also taking suggestions on what kind of gift card wold be best for Currie.

Cool.  Both places are close to each other and on the way to the event.  How much for each?

Bonus: JCP seems like a place that might have kids' Prince of Persia shirts, so if I'll get a couple of those for the boys if I can find some that'd fit them - shouldn't be a problem for Currie.

Not really.  They got rough ridin' lucky after having a night out on te town on the eve of college sports armageddon.  Bravo to them but I feel no remorse for mocking them.

So let's say that goEMAW was going to splurge on an Olive Garden gift certificate of what KS ethical rules allow, plus some sort of congratulatory plaque for Schultz.  Everyone brainstorm what should go on said plaque, or if it's thought that'll be a pain in the ass to pull off in the next 28 hours, create some kind of pretty looking certificate that we could stick in a frame and call it good.

Still taking gift certificate/plaque suggestions for Currie.

I'm thinking some really broad metaphor or quote.  And a katpak as well.

Good stuff.  Somebody with skillz put something together that prints as a standard frameable size and we can put it in something nice and call it good.  Make sure that it's noted that it's to Schultz (funny to make it out to his twitter name to call back to the Olive Garden tweet? :dunno:) and from the members of goEMAW.com.

If you don't have skillz, keep putting down ideas and collaborate with another board member who does.

I'd also be good with just adding a To and From to slimz' masterpiece, framing it, and presenting that along with the gift card.  :dunno:

When things looked bleakest Sunday night, Schultz twittered that he was heading to Olive Garden followed by seeing Prince of Persia.  goEMAW twitter-assaulted him about going to the Olive Garden while all this was happening and he later was responding one by one.  He told me he'd only had 5 breadsticks after I told him I hoped he hadn't fallen for the get-full-on-breadsticks-and-salad scheme.

Make the certificate say:

From: goEMAW.com
CONFERENCE ARMAGEDDON CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION
