I was there in 2002 for work. Best thing was that it was an easy drive to see Yosemite.

I think we might be getting into the magical part of the year where it actually starts getting cooler for a change.

Yosemite absolutely rules. I think I've said it before, but it's an underrated destination.

not sure what you're looking for.  yosemite and sequoia are the star tourist spots for sure, but not exactly insidery (insider tip - check to see which parts of the parks aren't on fire before driving up).

What is the good "local" cuisine sys? It's there like a weird funky sandwich or something?

i don't think we have anything distinctively local.  it's a decent food town, though.  lots of immigrants.

Basically where to stay/eat.  Going to be there one night.  Probably staying at a casino.  Is there a restaurant that should be on my list?

we don't eat out much, but i can offer a few suggestions.

this place is good.  https://www.hunanfresno.com/
good tacos here (not great if you like places to be v clean or stuff like that).  http://www.taqueriadonpepes.com/
decent barbeque, kind of a student crowd.  https://www.firestonegrill.com/locations/dog-house-grill-fresno/

most of the armenian/persian places i've been to have been good but not great.  same for mexican.

if you're looking for a fancier type of place, i can ask someone who eats at places like that.

doesn’t Fresno have some peppers?  Do they not play it up like New Mexico?

not at all.  you can find them if you want to look for them, but they're not, like, a thing.  it's easier to find a hatch chile.

Nothin' like rolling up to HEB during Hatch Green Chile season when the eponymous chiles are being roasted in big tumblers out front. MMM mmm.

Spent 40 hours in Fresno. Went to the zoo & nickle arcade. Kids loved it. Driving around Fresno it looks great. I wanted to stop & eat every 10 minutes. Everyone was almost creepily nice. Seemed like it would be a great place to live.
I got a guy on the other line about some white walls
