would also like @Justwin 's take on it if he/she still posts. that poster knows (fed) ball imo, even if we disagree mostly.

Yes, wish they posted more even if it's just to correct me when I'm stupid.

also, I assume you know this dax, a majority of those $ losses you are pointing at came from the fed mopping up low rate long duration bonds to keep the economy afloat in early covid (and some banking crisis garbage long ago as well). is your opinion that it was for "political purposes"? those are money losers in this rate environment, no doubt. not great to hold. I personally believe it was the right move even in hindsight though. and even if it benefited the previous administration(s). because that's what the fed does! which rules!

You must be completely shitfaced because I wasn’t responding to you in terms of correction

If you’re going to pearl clutch relative to Antoni, then you are essentially admitting the US government is completely full of crap on all economic measures. Because he is simply breaking down their own statistics.

I think of you lauding Krugmam (one example) and he’s been tracked right down to the nub as flip flopping exclusively on which political party held the White House.

I am camping right now, but in short, I am unconcerned about Fed losses on paper (asset devaluation) and operating losses.

The operating losses I think are more of a recent phenomenon due to abandonment of reserve requirements in favor of paying interest on reserves. Opinions are fairly divided on how much of a problem this is and I think it's fair to say we don't know for sure.

I'll try to put a longer post on this in the Non-political economy thread next week sometime. It would get swallowed up in this thread.

The US treasury and subsequently the US taxpayers fails to receive seigniorage earnings that are traditionally remitted to the US Treasury by The Fed.  The treasury in turn must search elsewhere, wait, that’s look one direction in order to fill in those gaps.

The Fed is now trying to create accounting out of thin air while we are looking at up to a decade before The Fed may be able to return to doing what they were mandated to do by Congress a couple of decades ago.

But yes, probably best to take it out of this thread.

The receipts roll in on rewriting the fascist Kamala Harris

-As AG bragging about a “stroke of a pen” ability to wreck people who in many cases committed low level crimes or possibly no crime at all.

-Openly talking about government seizing patents from businesses who don’t comply with price controls

And now even Uber #blueanon WaPo is calling her price control idiocy.

If there’s so much Joy, why is the DNC turning their convention site into a fortress?

Weird

Joy, I guess 🫤

As the numbers swing, I see maga cooking up a new smear.  Maybe the stupids will believe Kamala has a drinking problem?  Seems far fetched but it’s an easy one for the extra dummies to believe.  We will see
