sandstone not to get into a 80s/90s country-off but I will warn you as a young lad my family's idea of summer vacation was loading us up in the car and driving 12 hours a day all over the got damn united states for like 10 days straight and the music options were dad's tapes...and they were all 80s/90s country. This crap is burned into my brain forever.

This thread is worthless without the greatest country artist of the last 40 years.

I can't stand Toby Keith but this is one of my favorite country songs, OAT:

https://youtu.be/aIq1LvzSLsk

Teenaged me loved to listen to this song while driving the tractor and thinking about a special unobtainable person:

At Toby's show in the late '90s.

"Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy" and "Cadillac Ranch" by Chris LeDoux got me started on 90s country.

Of course Garth Brooks by Garth Brooks is the greatest album of this era. That album included "Alabama Clay" "Much too Young to feel this damn old" and "The Dance." Just an absolute gold mine.

Went to Chris LeDoux's show at KC Royal Rodeo.

Started listening to outlaw country in the mid-eighties.  That was when I saw the light and went full country.

90's country is weird. I went through that phase in Jr Highish and listened to the crap out of it. Not even a country fan, but everyone was listening. After that small period, never listened to country again. Those songs are rough ridin' burned into my brain though. Its the weirdest thing. Its most likely because the lyrics are ridiculous, but man. I did do a 90's country peloton ride the other day and enjoyed the absolute crap out of it.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the incredible popularity of Garth Brooks was responsible.

I’m here for it. Just so you know, I’m not going to take any low hanging fruit like Garth brooks except for this one bc I want a xpost Joel-Off

https://youtu.be/wPaoFynpjeY

Also, I’m racking my brain trying to remember this one 90s country song and I cannot remember it. As I recall it was the story of a serendipitous encounter of old friends who happened to be seated near each other on a flight. If you (or anyone) know what song I’m talking about I will happily tap out bc it’s driving me crazy
