The USFL
« on: April 17, 2022, 06:57:26 PM »
Is anyone watching?  They are on four networks, NBC/FOX.USA/FS1.  This is the correct way to make money, as I can see them grow the number of viewers as the season goes on.  I don't know much about them, but hopefully, they are more successful than the first USFL.

I think the way they are going about this new concept is great and much better than the XFL and whatever came out last year.  Frankly, I can't remember the name of it.  They do need fans in the seats, as in the first game with Burlingham as a home game.   They are selling tickets at $10 for adults and free for kids.  Playing in a new small stadium and having all the games there will cut down on expenses.  If this is successful, I hope whoever our new conference commissioner is taking a look at the way they did their network contracts.

Wanted to watch the Phily-Tampa (?) game last night but weather postponed it. Not sure of any fun rule differences to the NFL.

I do love that NOLA Breaker unis, they look awesome.

They are using a few college rules but mostly NFL.  One college rule they talked about was the clock stopping for first downs.  Don't know if they are going with the NFL for OT rules.

College timing rules inside of the last two minutes of the half. As much as I like that in college, I was annoyed by it when I watched NJ v BHAM.

Is Wichita big enough to have a USFL type team?

Went, had fun.   Good production.   Families and kids all over having a good time.

Zuber did a bunch of stuff for the Gamblers.

Small rosters showed late in the game.

Actually impressed with the adjustments Skip Holtz made in the second half.

UAB has themselves a nice little stadium.  Pretty impressive for a program the Bryant Family mafia tried to kill just a few years ago.
