Their are a number of similarities between this team and that 2006 team - perhaps most noteworthy being how close both teams were to having a good season, but also largely having an inability to close out games.
That 2006 team played a terrible non-conference schedule, but were 9-2 entering Big 12 play. They lost their first two, then beat KU, A&M and Mizzou in a row to get to 12-4. Then, they finished 3-9 the rest of the way with SIX of those nine losses being five points or less (and four of those six losses were by two points or less). That's actually quite extraordinary if you think about it.
