You're placing far too much emphasis on being .500, that doesn't matter a solitary bit. We need wins and quad 1 wins at that. He should be trying to schedule quad 1 games for next Tuesday and Thursday but he can't do that even if he wanted to since we're only 1 game short.

there has never been a team that made the tourney with an at large bid with a .500 record or worse. Only teams to make the tourney with a .500 record or worse were autobids.

There are obviously a lot more details that go into it, but typically the worst overall records that get at-larges are about 18-14.

Wacky, come on man, being 1 game closer or further away from .500 isn't at all a factor. We've already piled up enough losses, that ship has sailed. As far as the tournament profile goes there is no difference between 16-14 and 17-13. At that point it's all about having the right wins to give you a high enough NET and enough quad 1 wins. Worth noting that as it sits today BYU is 51 in the net, which means it would not be a quad 1 opportunity for K-State but it would be one for BYU.

Yeah, the new metrics just confuse me a bit. Quality wins should absolutely matter and I hope the Covid stuff is taken into the thought process as well. We win out, we’re in, but we all know that’s a tall task. I just knew the NIT did the .500 record thing in 2017 and that’s why I brought it up. When did they axe that?
