i think the collapse of the russian offensive on kiev and subsequent events kinda make how events have unfolded seem more preordained than they were. without minimizing how big of an obstacle the hostility to russian rule by the general populace would have been, a few twists here and there and it's pretty easy to imagine how russia's plan to take ukraine, or at least ukraine's govt, relatively bloodlessly could have worked.

There's a reason why the West has to send billions upon billions of dollars of weapons to Ukraine. The weapons that actually make it into combat get destroyed, one after another. HIMARS only kind of survives because there's Western "consultants" on the ground telling the Ukrainians what to do.

they don't conclude that it was an atacms, but they clearly think it's a decent possibility.

i still find the argument unconvincing, but i also find all the other possibilities being offered unconvincing (i agree that the special forces stuff, especially, seems like nonsense). i also think it's probably interesting that there hasn't been another long-range missile attack yet, at least afaik.
