Pretty interesting takes from this guy.  I don’t agree completely with him, but I agree that China is less likely to turn its back on the west and side with Russia and also I agree that this Ukraine/Russia thing is over soon.

He will get Ukraine to agree to concede those two pro Russia regions, Acknowledge crimea as Russian, put into constitution they won’t join EU or NATO, then he will leave.

So… they’re never going to leave?

I think they will be out by April/May.  Ukraine has plenty of incentive to agree to those terms.

That’s all good stuff. It was interesting seeing him toe the line with all the Trump impeachment stuff too. Not necessarily a firebrand, just a really good politician.

just wild how incompetent Russia has been. Analysts are pretty sure that they’ve blown through everything and don’t have much left hence bringing in Syrians.

Didn't Zelensky concede today that they won't join NATO? Wasn't one of Russia's demands that Ukraine demilitarizes? I feel like the chances of the latter are nil as they should be.

I think we should put everyone on Russia's border into NATO.

Demilitarization is a hilarious ask when you are getting your ass kicked during a completely unprovoked invasion.

Of course it also seems to be the most popular MAGA talking point: well if Ukraine and the west just rolled over Russia wouldn’t have had to bomb that maternity ward. So maybe it’s not as patently insane as I think.

Maybe this should be in the master maps / linguistics thread but does anyone have ideas on the best way to subdivide Russia into smaller nations / territorial gifts after Nato defeats them in WW3? I was thinking we could gift parts of Siberia to China in exchange for leaving Japan and Taiwan alone forever. Maybe St Petersburg and Moscow could be a demilitarized world cultural zone. Give some of western Russia to Poland. Not sure what to do with the rest...

This is a great idea. Those Canadians are really good at utilizing frozen wastelands.
