If I personally had children living in poverty and the opportunity to make their lives better, I would obviously choose to stay in school. Jobs that pay in the millions are a dime a dozen, and with that ku degree, I'm sure Sherron has nearly limitless opportunities if he does not make it playing basketball.

It's fair to say most this site thinks ku cheats, nothing to see here. We all know ku is crooked with the Chalmers/Adlrich parental situation. Come on ku fans the NCAA had to make a new recruiting rule thanks to your school

ku recruits itself... just look at a guy like Cole Aldrich. He grew up going to ku basketball camps and following ku basketball. You can't say the same for programs like K-State. If anyone is cheating, it's a program like K-State, who has to do anything it can to get players to play in Manhattan, KS.

Manhattan is completely different than any other city in Kansas... shoot Osawatomie and Ogden are different than any other town in Kansas but that's not necessarily a good thing. If an athlete is choosing between KState and ku they're not going to base their decision on the town.

I think it's fairly well documented that ku cheats. Hence their probation and constant run-ins with local law enforcement.
FYI - Austin is a sh*t hole. Furthermore, it's a city of over a million people and the state capitol of the second most populated state. It also has a badass bar district as do most sh*thole towns (i.e. New Orleans, Memphis)and a legendary music scene. Basically it is completely different than Lawrence in regards to the good things. They do compare well regarding the bad things, i.e. homeless population, stinky liberals, ridiculous traffic, filthy.
They say that Wichita has all the benefits of a big city without all the problems. Lawrence is the opposite, it has none of the benefits of a big city, with all the big city problems. Lawrence is truly an island in KS, it's nothing but an oversized flea market full of indigents, ignorant, and ugly people. I would say a good comparison city would be Springfield, MO.
I have yet to venture to a place that is very similar to Manhattan. The closest I've seen is Oxford, MS. Laid back culture, cool bar district, good eatin', town very focused on the university, well kept.

I'm assuming you're talking about Austin.
If so, I'd agree with you if this was the 90's, however Austin has fallen off a cliff since then. Went back for the first time in a while 2 years ago when we beat UT in football. Extremely disappointing, absolutely one of the grossest places I've ever visited. Couldn't wait to get back to Dallas (which ironically has drastically improved over the same time span).

I'm assuming you went to 6th street so yes I could see how you could say that. But I'm sure other cities have "that part" of the city. All in all it is a great city and it has some of the best restaurants.
