Favorite reactions from other school's fans
« on: June 09, 2010, 03:27:22 PM »
Just for something different/a good laugh

Baylor:

"If you think joining the MWC is a viable option...Please stay off this board, or at least keep your hands in your lap for the next few days/weeks.  The Baylor I grew to know and love wouldn't want to associate with 2nd rate anything."

Iowa State:

"I really think if we join the MAC we can go undefeated and win National Championships within 5 years.

Hear me out....

If we schedule a tough non conference schedule with the likes of Iowa, Florida State, Nebraska (cupcake UNI) and beat them we'll be 4-0 heading into conference play. DESTROY all of our MAC opponents. Now we're 12-0 going into the MAC Championship. Given our strength of schedule, our computer ranking will be around 1 or 2.
No way we are left out of the BCS Championship!
We won't have to play those tough teams every year, because our reputation will turn into Boise State/Gonzaga (basketball)

With basketball, we could be REALLY good. Look at Memphis, they are a "power" team in a weak conference. I could see our Clones do the same with Fred as our coach. We also wouldn't need to win the conference championship every year to make the Big Dance and compete for Sweet 16's."

Colorado:

"Suddenly CU can be had, the Big 10 should pounce on Colorado right now-
Posted by: 86 on Tue Jun 8 2010 10:56:35 PM
Message:

invite Neb. Missou and Colo. That's 14 teams and they can work on ND
and someone else over the next year. It was assumed that CU was PAC
10 material but does Colo. want the Big 12 South division and now
Baylor is mucking things up. CU fits the Big 10 academic profile
better than both Neb. and Mizzou. "

from a ku fan on facebook:

"I guess there is a rumor that SEC is interested in KU, but...KU is pushing for what ever conference they go to to at least allow KSU to follow..."

No I can't even make something like that up.

Nebraska fan is killing it right now

Quote
I think NE fits better with Big 10 country then with Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. In terms of "fitting in" I think the Big10 is much more in line culturally and for me at least a bit geographical.

Quote
I don't think i share much culturally with people south of nebraska. I'm not trying to bad mouth kansas or anything but they are more southern then nebraska is culturally and it gets more and more that way when you get to OK and TX.

Its always a pet peeve with me when people from Nebraska and Kansas think they are from the midwest.  Great Plains folks.  To people in the midwest (ie Big 10) we are all hicks culturally.

More of a pet peeve when idiots consider Ohio and Michigan Midwest. Join the Central Time Zone and get out of the Eastern Time Zone if you want to be mid west....

^This.  If your state is generally shaped like a rectangle and votes Republican, your state is in the Great Plains.  If your state has lots of squiggly lines around the borders, thinks Garrison Keillor has some meaningful message to deliver, and votes Democrat, you are in the Midwest.

JFC, hawk fans are stupid.

From a "How happy are you" thread on kusports.com

...that the Big 12 (minus Colorado and Nebraska) is staying together?

I'd say 7. Relieves my immediate anxiety, but it was just getting interesting with the Pac-10. Hopefully, we'll land well in the future, if the conference falls apart again.

I'd have to listen hard if the Pac-10 asked, even now, but, without the other Texas and Oklahoma schools as travel/divisional partners, it does make less sense now.

If Utah gets an invitation, I'll be a little pissed. I kind of expect that to happen now.

The road to the conference title just got easier for Kansas, not harder.  It's amazing that people can't grasp this.

Basketball quote, but still pretty great.

This whole thread was chock full of gems: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=172&f=2481&t=6043535

Quote
Going 15-3 or 14-4 is just fine and with an even better RPI gets you a 1-2 seed.  Heck, I am starting to get sick of 1 seeds anyway.

Quote
We may not go undefeated in conference as often, but the road to the regular season title just got easier.

Quote
It actually just got harder for the south to win the Big 12 Title because they now have to face Kansas twice each season, including a trip to Allen Fieldouse.

Quote
He is right, no more 15-1 or 14-2 conference records....more like 16-2, 17-1 records.

A quick search shows us associated with both regions.  I say we are great plains and Nubbs is midwest.  Better to distance ourselves from those cob stuffers.
