also, my company is going 2-3 days/week "depending on business need" for most people and also reducing office sq. footage overall. No more assigned desks for most people.

Also non-vaxxed folks need to mask up.

We've switched to a hybrid model, but it's basically just come and go as you please for people in my position. A lot of people don't go in at all. I usually go in 1-2 days a week.

They asked employees how often they're in the office, and people who are in the office 50% or more of the time who aren't fully vacinated are subject to surveillance testing.

I need this in my life.

The idiocracy, Wall-e, and other similar film all kind of becoming reality is both humorous and disheartening.

Five day RTO mandates seem to be on the rise. Amazon starts in 2025.

I'm amazed that companies have slow played RTO as long as they have. Seems like the longer companies allowed WFH to continue, the greater employees would be attached to it. Or maybe there wasn't really much of an overall plan in the first place.

We just basically closed every office we own. Flex space only. Myself and my team are mostly wfh though I have a few employees in KC that are supposed to come into the office two days a week (I told them I don’t GAF if they do or not)

These mandates are prob more "we need to get rid of some people and don't want to announce layoffs or pay people to leave".

Real problem with this though. The people that tell them to eff off and leave are probably good enough to get a job somewhere else and you are left with the people that are "stuck". Now those people are even more pissed about being there.

I don't think so. most high risers are high risers and will come to the office. most slack asses will not and will instead try to find another slack ass job.

I've worked from home full time since 2018 and I would love to have an office in Omaha again. I irl enjoyed the crap out of going to the office. I also appreciate wfh for other reasons but if we built another office here and said come in I'd be coming in skipping.

I go into our office every once in a while. When people do go in it's on Wednesdays. I never disliked going into the office I just don't want to do it every day. With traveling so much too I just work from wherever and I never want to give that flexibility back. I also have killer office setup at home that work would never be able to duplicate so

Mostly depends on what you are doing I guess. If your job is to sit at a computer all day doing whatever, getting up and going to an office just to do that is dumb IMO.

Sitting at a computer all day is basically everyone with an office job.

Talking to people is what I mostly do. And I can do that from home just fine. But I like doing it with them irl. Also it makes it easier for me to get them to do what I want them to do.

that’s actually not true.  high performers like the flexibility that working remotely offers just like everyone else and will still dictate their terms.  lots of information about this out there on the world wide web.

My company is militant about in office work.  The functional head works remote.  So does another key player.  If you are supremely talented you get crap others don't.

Companies don't always keep their most valuable employees during layoffs let alone implementing mandatory RTO. People running companies do stupid things all the time.
