Historically, pandemics have always ravaged cities, regardless of who lives there. It would be interesting to contrast Michigan's data with South Carolina's data (for example), where are larger proportion of the African American population lives in rural areas.

Exactly, social distancing has socioeconomic limits. The greatest example of this are the people being shamed for riding on the NYC subways. Where exactly do people think those trains are being ridden to? These people have to work.

I know denser, poorer areas are always going to be more at risk during epidemics. What I don't know, and what I'm slightly afraid of, is if certain genetic makeups are more at risk for adverse reactions to the virus. Unlike bookie, I'm not an epidemiologist, I don't know how this virus works.

I sure hope not, bro. I doubt it, but like you said it still highlights the lack of fucks given about underprivileged people in this country. It’s despicable.

Except they are actually enforcing stay at home orders. I can't speak to the entirety of the country but I saw some funny videos of them making people do squats if they were outside or something. Other people who ignored the orders were jailed at squash courts.

from what i gather those were volunteers thought to have been exposed to covid 19, however.  not a sample representative of the population as a whole.

what's crazy is he could phrase it in a way that doesn't make him seem at fault but also not sound like a crybaby pretty easily. Just say something like this is unprecedented, no one could have been ready for something like this and we're doing everything we can to correct it. Even if it's a lie it seems like a more plausible explanation than blaming Obama.

Spoke to to my bubby, who lived through the depression. She said she's worried about the FDIC covering everyone, particularly her CD's. She said she thinks a ton of businesses aren't going to be able to cover their loans and the banks are going to fold.  :lol:  :surprised:

Our conversations are much rosier than this, but I thought this one belonged in this thread.
