Pfizer is currently exploring whether a third dose of their vaccine would improve efficacy against variants. It’s apparently a pretty well founded hypothesis, so that’s one reason to have a surplus.

We buy and give it to needed countries? If nobody orders it with money backing it they won't make it. Also I'm sure it's a way to reward the investment pharma made in rushing to get this done.

just a guess - j&j is in a study for efficacy of a 2nd shot, so they're probably buying to have the supply to offer a 2nd injection to individuals that received the single j&j injection.

I signed up last night too. I called local pharmacies about the waste avoidance list but they had automated messages saying they were too busy, register online and visit the county website so I opted for Dr. B instead.

How many people in the United States have died since Biden took office?

Well lets see, in the last week, approximately 10,500 U.S. citizens were said to have died from SARS-Covid-19. We're nearly two months into the Biden Presidency, and he walked in with vaccines already being shipped out, and still billions upon billions of dollars in previous stimulus money (like hundreds of billions) that is still unspent (and reportedly even that money will not be totally spent for another full year). He walked in with nearly a full year of medical understanding of the virus in hand, and multiple states still engaged in restrictions, and most if not all still with mandatory masking, capacity reductions etc. etc. etc. Yet still 10,500 will have died in the last week, if not more by the end of the day today.

The primary message we've gotten from the administration to date: Pandemics are really hard, hold on for the vaccine, and put on a worthless 2nd mask

Friend has a dilemma. Moderna shot on the 18th in KC or one jab J&J on the 16th in Nevada, MO?

I'm a Moderna man myself so want him to join me but not sure which I'd do if I didn't have either.

based on efficacy data? Seems J&J got in their trials after more variants were out. Isn't it coming out that Moderna is similar when you factor in variants?
