Govt gets a vaccine out in less than a year which is basically impossible and these morherfuckers still want to find something to nitpick.  I weep for America.

Don't pay any attention to the sysbot's of this world.   Dude is a full blown CoronaBro drama queen just like cRusty, Phil and several others.

Im sure there have been missteps but the fact that a viable vaccine got created and basically everyone that wants one can get one within the next 6 months is insane.   I mean people can be critical and that’s their right but grand scheme this was a huge win.

Everyone who wants one being able to get one within 6 months is something that remains to be seen. We were supposed to have distributed 20 million vaccines by the end of December and have distributed about 2 million so far. Basically, as soon as the government actually was put in charge of doing something, everything predictably started falling apart.

Anytime you release the logistics of a rollout to 1000s of local health departments AND get private industry involved (CVS Walgreens) for some of the rollout, there is no way it can't be a mess early on.  Too many cooks in the kitchen.

Some people are 1000% politically motivated and don't dwell in anything resembling reality.   In the case of the vaccine  In their world, if it weren't for a certain political person resources, production capacities, supply chains and logistics would be virtually unlimited and would be operating like Swiss watch from inception to the end 24/7/365.   Their leaders talked crap all over the vaccine, and now that the vaccine is here they have to have another thing to bitch and moan about.

The problem with "those people" is they take what the task force says seriously and literally versus how you and I have learned to take what they say as aspirational and not really grounded in any reality.  20M vaccines by end of the year goal = 2M actually in arms.

I’m not surprised that the rollout is slow when we’re hand selecting who gets it.

It would go much better and quicker if it was being sold instead of free, even for a nominal amount. Look what financial incentive did for the creation and manufacturing.

Where is the 2M number coming from? Is that a function of lack of good real time data on who is actually vax’d? I thought I read 12 million had been distributed.

That’s probably true but watching the debacle that was the PS5 rollout this year at much smaller scale tells me private industry sucks crap at distribution at times too.

It’s not a real-time number

Seems like the fed gov is leaving states out to dry after the vaccines get there.

Big win for OWS on getting the vaccine developed by the end of the year, but who cares if people actually get it or not.

Yeah, I'm seeing 2.1 million doses adminstered, 11.4 million doses distributed. That isn't nearly as bad as it looked at first glance. It seems the fault lies mostly with our local hospitals, pharmacies, etc.

It's not really that hard. Just tell the local news you have vaccines available for the first 5000 people or however many you have that show up, administer the doses, and then repeat when you get more.

Yeah it seems like it would be that easy doesn't it?  So why isn't it happening that way?  I am sure the larger hospitals have the staff and resources to get that done, but probably not so much at smaller hospitals where they are already understaffed, etc.

I think it's more poor planning on how they should be distributed after health care professionals got it. I mean the CDC committee that Nate Silver was reading about still hadn't decided on phase 1b recommendations until last week. It's really bizarre that it hasn't been more talked about and it seems late at every level of government

Yea first come first serve that crap, I imagine the people that need it the most have the most incentive to actually be the the first come but maybe I’m wrong.

Bloomberg is doing a "real time" tracker.  Lower down they show how fresh each state's data is

I don't think that's the right way at all. But if you aren't getting it to the people that need it first, you gotta do something.

"Fault" seems harsh.  Last mile is always the hardest especially given extra funding was just signed Sunday.  That again speaks to breaking this down to 1000s of hands in the pot.  Some have their crap together better than others despite everybody having a plan submitted and approved by the CDC month ago.

It's a lot more important that hundreds of millions of doses get administered over the next few months than it is that the right people get those doses.

This is interesting.  Is the number of allotted doses listed here the updated number after OWS decreased how many states would get?

https://kdvr.com/news/coronavirus/covid-19-vaccine/colorado-may-get-thousands-fewer-covid-19-vaccines-than-expected-on-friday/

It seems that CO is distributing the vaccines at a good pace.  My wife works at Children's hospital and anyone who wants a vaccine can get one.  She walked into work on Monday and got it that afternoon. (Moderna)

Would also be interested in seeing how many of the allotted doses have been delivered as compared to administered.

Obviously it would be best if you vaccinate hundreds of millions in the right order
