For the 21st consecutive day Europe tops the 200K case mark.

In the last 30 days, Europe has added 6,760,247 new cases, a daily avg of 225,342 new cases.

The shine of dax's "well Europe sucks too" attempted counter point is wearing thin.  Dude we're supposed to be BETTER.  Let's drill down into some asian and african countries and look at them kicking western societies asses and they party it up because they had their crap together.

A combination of many things, but I'd assume a lot of it has to due with people moving inside. Once again, we were 2-3 weeks behind Europe and their spike.

Yeah, if you look at the western hemisphere at least, most of the rises and falls in cases at the state and local level seem to correlate with weather allowing time spent outside. It's why the south is doing so well now compared to the upper midwest, and the opposite happened in the summer. I bet the South's cases continue to rise as it gets colder

been thinking about this a bit, especially since i live in an area that doesn't get particularly cold but still has the standard seasonal virus seasons:

1.  it doesn't have to get that cold to be uncomfortable for humans to lounge around doing nothing.  50 is plenty cold to drive people inside.
2.  day length is also probably a strong factor.  humans don't tend to spend much time outdoors in the dark.

yeah I should have clarified that I don't understand what's going on there. Not sure how clear the data is and I'm guessing the climates are fairly different.

Good point on length of day, too. That combined with the temp is definitely cutting into my outdoor gatherings.

2 is a huge factor bc not only is it dark but the temp drops like a rock in most areas as soon as it gets dark.
