Office Chairs
« on: July 17, 2019, 02:09:03 PM »
Hey guys, your ole pal here, 420seriouscat69. So, working remotely from home about 3/4 of the time of my life now, has made me realize how important a good office chair is. I've accepted some hand me down now from family and friends and they all suck ass. Starting to have back, butt, and neck problems from these POS's. Anyways, i'm looking for some good pro tips when it comes to an office chair. I really need the support. TIA.

What do you think of this one?

Gal at work quit, and I noticed she had a Herman Miller Aeron chair, like the $600 ones.  I wheeled my crappy overpadded chair over to her cubicle right before she left and completed the switch.  Have never looked back.

What you should also consider is a standup desk.  If chair and desk are adjusted properly, they will not only if conformable as AF, but will eliminate most of your pains and ackees.  Do you have a safety or health adviser?  They are usually the ppl that can set this stuff up for you.  :th_twocents:

We have these. I'm not sure I'd pay that much for a chair for myself, but I'd at least consider it because they're pretty great.

my review of office chairs i've had:

some staples bullshit mesh task chair - sucks a ton of ass. fit doesn't feel right, back hurts every time.
ikea markus - good back/head support, well built. the seat is hard as a rock and is angled up which doesn't feel right and butt hurts within hours. sucks ass because of that.
hermon miller aeron - it doesn't feel like anything special at first but my back never hurts. butt never hurts as well. armrests annoy me but it's ok. don't feel the need for head support either.

verdict? aeron. it's expensive but if you buy used, you could sell it and not lose much if you don't like it. if you use it a few years you might only lose 100-200 bucks in value. but you're not going to sell it because it's that good.

In early January Herman Miller had a 20% off sale going for Aerons and so I finally decided to get one. It took about a month to ship but I got all the customizations that I've been looking at for a while. Figured if I was gonna drop $1700 I might as well get everything I want. First full day sitting in it and I like it. The adjustable lumbar support and the adjustable lean back are probably my favorite so far. I think when it gets super hot this summer I will appreciate the mesh more, my leather chair was always hot af in the summer.

I got a Herman Miller task chair about a year ago and I like it!
