on one hand i say, sure it is.  that's what he signed up for.  we didn't hire a coach that is going to settle for a mid-tier bowl match ups.
he has 4 natty's coming into this job, he should be held to that same standard.  but is it realistic?

i  say yes.  we should want to win those natty's and we should EXPECT to win those natty's.  if this klieman character isn't the guy to get it done then he needs to be fired asap, it's as simple as that.

how many natty's is good enough though?  1, 2, 3?  more?  will he always use an excuse if he doesn't win? <--that's what oscar weber does and it works.

1 natty = attaboy award
2 nattys = contract extension and pay increase
3 nattys = pay increase (again)
5 nattys = rename stadium
0 nattys = can his ass, pronto

the b12 championship better start coming through MHK next season.  we have no time to waste being shitty, we fired our last three coaches for that exact reason.

I don't think you necessarily have to wait until he finished the season without winning a natty before firing him. If you've lost confidence in his ability to win a natty mid-season, you have to go ahead and make that change. On the other hand, if he finishes the season without winning a natty, but you still have confidence in his ability to win a natty, then you just have to evaluate on a case by case basis at the end of each season. But why anyone would have confidence in his ability to win a natty after finishing the season without winning one is really beyond me.

OP: IMHO i believe he needs to be in the champy game every year.  Does he HAVE to win it every time though?  I say as long as his success rate is above 50% he will stay off the hot seat.

if there's one thing we've learned over the years, it's that the media/national audience wants k-state in the playoff.  Between our iconic logo and our historical uniforms, k-state has been america's team, so fortunately for kleiman he has every advantage in the world to make natty's a reality in the little apple.

You people, if that's what you really are, are as amusing as Bill Murray and  Adam Sandler.

Which is to say not at all.

Yeah, You Betcha!  That's why there is the 1998 - Kansas State Rule

Quote
Going into the 1998 Big 12 championship game, all Kansas State needed was a victory to lock up a spot in the inaugural BCS championship game. But a double overtime loss to Texas A&M resulted in the Wildcats' first loss of the season, cost them a shot at the national title, and  set them up for one of the biggest snubs in BCS history.

Even with the loss, K-State finished the regular season No. 3 in the BCS Standings and was expected to be rewarded with a trip to a BCS game. But it was passed up as at-large bids were given to fourth ranked Ohio State and more controversially, eighth ranked Florida, which went to the Orange Bowl to face Big East champion Syracuse. Kansas State would end up in the Alamo Bowl instead.

Quote
To avoid similar slights in the future, the BCS adopted what's known as the "Kansas State Rule" following the 1998 season.

Lots of girls have the courage to play football -- perhaps you sold yourself short.

To give as specific an answer as you, I started my coaching at Union HS in Tulsa, ok. 3500+ students 10 - 12

Since HOFHCBS never did, I suspect Nattys are out of reach.

We canned bill’s ass.

After 27 years and the greatest turn around in College Football History.

Switzer once said that Snyder wasn’t the coach of the year, or even the coach of the decade — he was the coach of the century. What’s happening in Manhattan, Kan., is confirmation that Snyder needs to be considered not only one of the best college coaches of his generation, but one of the greatest college coaches of all-time.
