Long Movies

If you can't make your story into a movie that is 90 minutes or less then just make it a TV Show.  I mean sheesh.

best part about having a 2 and 5 year old and only watching their movies is that Disney (on top of making elite animated movies) only makes them like 85 minutes long.

I love long movies and wish there were more.

In fact, I don't think I've ever said a movie is too long.

The worst is when it seems like a movie is wrapping up nicely around the 90 minute mark but then there is a twist and now you don't know when it will end but probably not for another 30-45 minutes.  Ugh.  Why do movies have to be so complicated?

The Godfather I and II laugh at the idea of this thread.  When those movies end I'm kinda bummed out there isn't more to watch.

Room was too long. Its overall length was fine, but if it would have just ended shortly after she escaped, it would have been a better movie.

I heard Avengers End Game is 3 hours, 2 minutes. I'll be seeing it because of my 8 year-old. Thankfully, I'll probably also get a little break from it when my 8 year-old needs to go to the bathroom.

There are certainly bad movies that are long, but I can't think of a movie where a long runtime is a negative factor

honestly, after about 15 minutes of any movie, i'm ready to move on.  i feel like i have enough data collected to fill in the blanks about the remaining 1:30 and am happy to occupy my time doing other things.

I could easily do Shawshank in 90 minutes.  Should have ended as soon as he escaped.  Leave the Morgan Freeman stuff to the imagination.  I don't need to see him bagging groceries and walking around the countryside for 45 minutes.

All of the Lord of the Ring movies could have easily been 90 minutes if you just cut out all the scenes where people just stare at each other with emotional expressions on their faces.

Hi _33 just a quick clarification question... With some of the old timey pictures (talkies) they had intermissions. Do you count intermissions as part of the total runtime? Fiddler on the roof, for example. Thanks in advance go cats.

All movies over 90 minutes should be required my the MPAA to have an intermission.  The intermission should be a minimum of 1 year long, and then the second half of the movie can be released with a "2" after the title.

barge gas 1 has a run time of 15 minutes.  every subsequent release in the barge gas series (2-17) ran 14 minutes in length (15 was too long), except for the penultimate which ran 16 minutes (sorry barge gas fans)

Pretty much every Judd Apatow movie is good but would've been funnier if it weren't 20 minutes too long. It's all about the batting average with comedy.
