Man, you just got me thinking of all the great Vietnam movies out there and which one is the best.  There are four obvious contenders: Apocolypse Now, The Deer Hunter, Full Metal Jacket and Platoon.  Hard to say but I might put The Deer Hunter as 1 and A.N. as 2.  Then round it out with Full Metal Jacket and finally Platoon.

This is a tough one.

1 - Full Metal Jacket - It's just a great movie and I am a huge Kubrick fan.
2 - Apocalypse Now (orig, not the redux) - Duvall, Brando and Martin Sheen.  Great movie.
3 - The Deer Hunter - Freaking DeNiro is awesome in this movie.
4 - Platoon - My favorite Dafoe flick.
5 - Forrest Gump - Because We Were Soldiers sucks.

Forrest Gump had some great Tyler Lockett and Brandon Banks-esque kickoff returns when he played for Alabama.  He probably could have played football for K-State.

I was BBS'ing late at night a couple weeks ago and The Happening came on the tube.  Decided to pop some pop corn and pour a beverage.  I was pleasantly surprised.  The plot had so many twists and turns plus Faye Dunaway was a fox.  I give it  :star: :star: :star: :star:  Definitely worth the watch.

Saw Side Effects.  It was fun.

Really? Trailer looked dumb as crap  :dunno:

That is exactly what I thought going into it.  It was a Mrs Bread pick and I was pretty shitty about it and then by the end I was all :surprised: and :excited: and she was all :dubious: at me.  Like I said, it's a fun watch.

We Were Soldiers was not a bad flick. Reading the book now for comparison and will report back.

deerhunter and apoc now are both great war movies
i love all the old classics though.  it's true that they don't make them like they used to.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

i read on IMDB after the movie that 20 deaths are attributed to people being influenced to play russian roulette by the movie.

who knows how true it is, but they make it look so bad ass.  When walken interrupts the game in Saigon i almost crap myself.

My friend tried it recently. Just put one round in, spun the thingie, and shot at a target. First try, BOOM. He decided he would never play for reals.

It's a cylinder, if you want to use the technical term, but "thingie" suffices just fine too.

Reservoir Dogs

Wow.  Probably my second favorite Tarantino work besides Inglorious Basterds, just ahead of Django. I never cared for Pulp Fiction much.

Pulp Fiction is an acquired taste. Have to watch it two or three times to fully appreciate it.

Watched Silver Linings Playbook with the gf last night.  It was good.  A little bit sappy but I generally enjoy those kind of movies if the acting is good, and I thought it was.

Guys, so you remember seeing previews for that really dumb movie where the grandpa goes home to take care of his kids, but he isn't good at it and then that one kid hits him in the gonads with a baseball bat!?

Well it turns out that those previews did a terrible job of highlighting the movie. It was actually pretty funny and kind of heartwarming.  :D I was surprised at how much I liked it.
