Also, the little boy is terrific.

Yeah I forgot to mention this. He was great.

100% agreed. Amazing kid acting is so hard to make work, and when it does, it really makes the movie stand out. It's the only reason I liked Super 8, and the main reason I like Man on Fire, The Sandlot, and ET.
remember when we saw Moonrise Kingdom, Jakesie?  What a great afternoon.

Damn, that's the one I was trying to think of. Really made the movie. Would have been slightly under "meh" without great kid acting, but is probably "good to great" because of it. And yes, great afternoon. Even had an appearance from Purple Haze!

i actually didn't care for inception either.  characters were completely flat.  i didn't care about them at all.

i can understand why people really like it though.  maybe i should watch it again.

unfortunately, most of nolan's movies are great the first time, and lose greatness with each viewing.

With exception to Dark Knight and Memento, I agree.

Are you challenging me to watch all of Nolan's movies a second time? Because I will.

It's fun to see all the tie-ins to the Dark Knight that I missed now that I've seen Dark Knight approximately 20 times, and also the connections to Dark Knight Rises. But as a stand alone movie, it was pretty meh for the second time.

What are our true contenders for "Nolan movies that are good the 2nd+ time"? Memento, Dark Knight, and The Prestige? Any other nominees? Dark Knight should get a free pass, IMO.

it's not that they aren't good on 2+, it's that they just lose a little bit of goodness each time.

i've seen dark night 20+ times too, but now it's just a meh movie when it used to rough ridin' awesome.  inception was going the way of meh after 6-10 viewings, so i stopped watching it so it wouldn't start sucking to me.

Insomnia was much better 2nd time. DKR was much better 2nd time. Inception I saw like 4 times in the theater. 2nd time was the best. I will watch Following again and let you know about that one. Prestige gets better and better the more you watch it. You could say I am a full on Nolan fanboy I guess. I think Inception was the most  :horrorsurprise: movie I have ever seen.

The Dark Knight rises got better the second and third time I watched it. Agree with Jake (yay!) about Batman Begins, although that movie is vastly superior to TDK in the lady department with Katie Holmes. The Prestige is a very good movie and I could watch it at any time, but Inception I liked the first time because it was such a cool concept but the more I watch it the more meh it gets. If its on TV I will watch the last 45 minutes or so, but I really don't want to see all the crap before that.

JGL is a good actor and I like him in most of the stuff he's in, but like I said with Looper, just because he's in it doesn't make it a good movie.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

i like JGL, and i had to turn brick off after 30 minutes because i couldn't rough ridin' stand that movie.  made me sad too because i've never read a bad review of it.

The Dark Knight is my favorite super-hero movie.

The Dark Knight Rises was good if I compare it to other super-hero movies like The Avengers but overall I was disappointed in it.
