Yeah, the HP books may be geared towards people a bit younger than yourself, but they are really good and they are quick, easy reads.  Highly recommended by 8mp.

The only thing I didn't like in the HP movies is the minor antagonists like Harry's aunt and uncle or whatever and Draco have like zero motivation to be so horrible to Harry. I hate it in movies when the antagonists are super mean and evil for no reason. Like, I can believe in a magical school for wizards and witches, no problem. But I lose my suspension of disbelief when people are super mean for no reason.

This seems like some one-line-of-dialogue-in-the-book excuse J.K. came up with when people had the same problem with the aunt and uncle that I do.

"Why are they so mean? Why don't they just send him away?"
"Oh, well, uh, he has to be there because he can't be harmed by evil there because of this spell"

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

 

It was long. But the action scenes were good and plentiful. The didn't love any of the characters like I did in the LOTR series.

Although the screaming fights are painful for me to watch.  I don't like it when people interact that way.
